This page is in regards to whether or not CD Mastering should be merged into the Compact Disc mastering article.

Here are some reasons why I believe that it should not be:

Probably the most important reason is because I believe that researchers would be more likely to look up CD mastering in the search engine since that phrase is used more widely than Compact Disc Mastering is.

Also, the Compact Disc mastering article is only a short summary of what is included in CD mastering. The CD mastering article contains complete information.

Sorry but, CD mastering is part of the audio mastering process and thus, doesn't warrant its own article. The Audio_mastering article covers the main functions already. As a matter of fact, CD mastering is nothing more than using CD authoring software to add sub codes like ISRC and UPC numbers and other sub channel information, after the pre-mastering has taken place. Just like "pre-mastering", "vinyl mastering" and "music mastering" were not needed, neither is CD mastering. Jrod2 (talk) 08:09, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
