Removed material[edit]

I removed the following material for reasons explained below:

Ontario[edit]

Municipal Commissioners in Ontario are commissioned by the Elected Members of the Council. The different Commissioners organize themselves into Associations such as the R.P.W.C.O. http://www.rpwco.ca so they can network on activities in their mutual interests while operating in different jurisdictions.

This material does not comply with WP:RS, WP:V and WP:CITE None of it is cited, but the following two factors are especially problemmatic:

  1. It claims that all the different types of commissioners organize themselves into associations but only provides one example.
  2. It claims that the purpose of the associations are organized so the commissioners can network in their own interests (not those of their constituents), but does not provide a cite for this. Per WP:BLP, as the commissioners are presumably living (insert obligatory joke here) this absolutely must be sourced. JChap T/E 22:22, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. Overseas Commissioners[edit]

Sometime prior to 1927, the U.S. Department of Commerce began sending commercial (trade) "commissioners" overseas. Also, in 1919, the Department of Agriculture appointed an "agricultural commissioner", Edward Foley, to London, and that title was applied in certain parts of the world until 1939. Can anyone shed light on the origins of this use of the title "commissioner" for individuals who were posted abroad in quasi-diplomatic positions but who were not accorded diplomatic status and thus not able to use diplomatic titles? Image copyright problem with File:Coat of Arms of Nunavut.png[edit]

The image File:Coat of Arms of Nunavut.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. Court Commissioner[edit]

Apparently we are missing the US Circuit Court Commissioner which is or was an occupation in the early early 1900s. Don't know whether the title exists today. Student7 (talk) 21:25, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
