"Pedestal"[edit]

Actually, I think the eagle holds a scroll (instead of standing on a pedestal). AnonMoos 22:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jumhuriya vs. Gumhuriya[edit]

Jumhuriya is more standard Arabic, but Gumhuriya could be considered more authentically Egyptian... AnonMoos (talk) 17:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't edit war over the matter... AnonMoos (talk) 09:58, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Heraldic blazon"[edit]

In traditional European heraldry, the eagle would actually be considered a supporter. However, blazoning it the way it's currently done in the article, the word "escutcheon" should probably be used in place of "shield". Not sure this section really adds very much to the article. AnonMoos (talk) 07:08, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why exactly does it say "dexter" after mentioning that it is looking to its left. I know dexter means right-hand (ambidexterity), but how is this suggesting its point? Hobapotter (talk) 22:30, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The blazon is gone now, but for "dexter" and "sinister" in heraldry, see Blazon... AnonMoos (talk) 12:43, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Horus is a hawk, not an eagle[edit]

The eagle appears Roman in character; at least Egypt has Greco-Roman historical ties. 24.189.22.171 (talk) 02:23, 11 February 2011 (UTC)FR[reply]

It doesn't claim to revive ancient Egyptian symbolism, but rather medieval Saladin symbolism. AnonMoos (talk) 06:58, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Own creation???[edit]

wrong version

An anonymous user permanently tries to smuggle a wrong version of the first republican eagle in here. On what this "own creation" is based, on which source? Obviously it is a wrong version, better compare crw flags and World Statesmen or the Frontpage of "Egypt's Liberation - The Philosophy of the Revolution" by Premier Gamal A. Nasser (1954). His first "own creation" on wikimedia commons did look more a goose than an eagle. However, Anonymous now refers to that photo - a very small photo and black/white only where you neither can see clearly any details or any colours (the earth balls are not simply green!). Just compare with the three others more reputable sources I mentioned and then you see and will not have doubts anymore. --Roksanna (talk) 14:11, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the ONLY source. You asked for a photo and I provided one as soon as I saw your request. Rather than being grateful, or at least respectful, you instead made baseless accusations. I am not the author of the correct image file, which you inexplicably deride as being a "wrong version". I'm simply pointing out that it is the correct version, and I kindly provided you with a link as soon as I could. There are other sources which support this. I was simply trying to be expeditious. Also, you have deliberately chosen to ignore the fact that the eagle in the link does NOT correspond to your incorrect version. I refer you again to the size and angle of the wings, and the plume/tail feathers. The one that you are offering is clearly an amateurish attempt to represent the eagle based on a verbal description of the design, not the actual design itself. The fact that it has been used incorrectly used elsewhere (first appearing in a children's book on flags around 10 years ago) does not make it accurate.

In any case, regardless of your view, try to calm down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.83.186 (talk) 16:46, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many words, no message. Again: Refer your sources, please! You mention there are other sources but you do not name them? So they are phantasy only? However, I notice that you are not the author of the image, so the wrong version is not your fault. --Roksanna (talk) 20:44, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

which version is the correct one?[edit]

which version should we use?

an earlier version of this is the correct version
this is just a cut away from the flag of the arab republic of egypt

an earlier version of the first coat of arms (see file history) is the correct one, but someone use the flag which is incorrect so let us correct it Leiroi22 (talk) 21:06, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The White one. that's how it looks in all presidential and governmental conferences, websites... etc. EX: www.cabinet.gov.eg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amrtarek (talkcontribs) 18:35, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
