Arrest[edit]

While Clyde Bellecourt was arrested and convicted of possession of LSD with intent in the 1980's and released in 1988, Vernon was never arrested nor shown to have any participation in that. Please reference the Bureau of Prisons site (http://www.bop.gov/iloc2/InmateFinderServlet?Transaction=NameSearch&needingMoreList=false&LastName=bellecourt&Middle=&FirstName=clyde&Race=U&Sex=U&Age=&x=0&y=0) where you will find Clyde but not Vernon.

Also the United States Public Access to Court Records (PACER) at https://pacer.login.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/login.pl?court_id=00idx

You will see Vernon Bellecourt has two federal cases 1:96-cv-04457 regarding a suit against the City of Chicago and the DNC. And 5:73-cv-05030 Quigley vs American Indian Movement. Neither a criminal offense. Similar searches of Hennepin County, MN and other courtr records will reveal similar lack of an arrest for drugs.

Clyde's arrest is a matter of public record.

Furthermore his history of working with Indian children in Minneapolis since through the revitalization of Heart of the Earth or his scholarship program show the man is a human being overcoming his flaws. To utilize Wikipedia to attack the brothers is unconscionable.

The changes to this page were dramatic and its very encyclopedic, measured and fair.

While I think we can all appreciate the need for snack food, someone needs to delete the nonsense re: the Hershey bar. --70.102.42.38 (talk) 23:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Improve sources[edit]

With all that's been written about AIM and the Bellecourt brothers since the 1970s, editors need to find better sources: RS - reliable sources according to Wikipedia policy are second-party, preferably mainstream publications, or articles or published in peer-reviewed journals, such as academic presses and books from reputable publishers. Bellecourt's first-person memoir and the AIM website are not sufficient as sources for such a controversial activist and organiztion.Parkwells (talk) 20:48, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Ojibwe name"[edit]

The source given for his "Ojibwe name" contains absolutely no information as to this supposed fact. 216.12.61.6 (talk) 18:57, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing this. The lead was rearranged and a source probably got separated from the name. Bellecourt's Ojibwe name is widely cited. I'm more interested in finding the definitive name in Ojibwe which seems to differ by a syllable from source to source. -SusanLesch (talk) 16:02, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
