In this article's introductory paragraph, the following sentence appears:
" Alternatively, clonal hematopoiesis may arise without a driving mutation, through mechanisms such as neutral drift in the stem cell population."
Not understanding the meaning of "neutral drift", I read about genetic drift, and it appears that the sentence will be more readable if the word "drift" is linked to the WP article Genetic drift. I have made this link, and if it turns out to have been ill-advised, I hope another editor can explain why, and revert it.--Quisqualis (talk) 00:42, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Clonal hematopoiesis
The bone marrow where mutations are believed to occur
CHIP or clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential is a medical condition in the human bone marrow which is characterized by a "bizarre accumulation of mutated stem cells" which may lead to an increased risk of heart attacks or strokes.[1][2][3][4][5] According to a report in the New York Times, the mutation is not based on predisposed genetic factors, but it is acquired over time, so that as a person ages, he or she is more likely to have this condition.[1] The condition brings a 50%+ chance of dying of a heart attack or stroke within the next ten years of a person's life.[1] According to one view, it is the most important discovery since statins.[4] Some doctors have advised against getting the expensive[6] test for CHIP since there are no treatments available to stop or reverse the accumulation of mutated STEM cells.[5]
