Light curve characteristics[edit]

It would be nice to explain what sets Cepheids apart from other variable stars. I have read (in Modern Theories of the Universe from Herschel to Hubble) that what characterises a Cepheid is its light curve, with a relatively sharp and a slower decline. Can someone elaborate more? CielProfond (talk) 01:15, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The obvious missing column in the table[edit]

... is the Luminosity. Distance and/or absolute magnitude would also be nice. With the table as it stands, the classic relationship that makes these stars important is not evident. -- Elphion (talk) 20:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Great idea - want to add a column? If not I will do it sometime in the next few weeks. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 00:30, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I tried looking for the data, found what looked like conflicting stories. If you can point me to a good source I can try to do the honors. Otherwise happy to let you do the heavy lifting. -- Elphion (talk) 01:08, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you d o a column I will have a look a bit later. It will be a matter of looking up articles. I'd do luminosity rather than abs mag as the latter seems to be falling out of favour a bit from what I can tell.... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 02:14, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
