What follows is only examples which do not have the word "class reunion" in their title. Those who do can now be found in a separate article, which is only mentioned at the top of this article. Does anyone think this is more user-friendly now? <KF> 10:20, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of reunion is not clear.[edit]

Is a reunion for the entire class or for a specific group of former classmates who knew each other? I would not want to attend a reunion for the entire class. It is impossible for a student to know everyone in his or her graduating class. There are too many people. --Alchaenist (talk) 06:45, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger with Homecoming[edit]

They are not typically at the same time or coordinated with each other. They are completely different concepts. Homecoming is an overall school event.[reply]

Seems ill advised to me... these are not the same things. Homecoming typically (at least in the US) is for all alumni and happens in conjunction with an athletic events. Class reunions typically are organized for a specific class (class of 1983, for example) at a significant anniversary (such as 20 years or 30 years, the 30 year reunion of class of 1979 would be held in 2009...) I went ahead and removed the merge tag. It has been there since November 2008 with no support for the merge. I am assuming that the user who added the tag was confused about what "homecoming" is in the United States. Lagringa (talk) 17:15, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All-Class Reunion[edit]

I don't see any mention of what is termed, the "all-class reunion." I have been to 2 of these over the years at my old high school and they were quite enjoyable to me. In a sense, this is sort of what some might describe as a homecoming -- graduates who have graduated from or those who have attended a school at some point without graduating, get together. This type of reunion may take several days, perhaps a Friday and weekend. School tours, a dance and a general get together might all be a part of this type of reunion. At the general get together, there might be a nominal cover charge -- beverages served at these events might also be a source of fundraising for the school -- for scholarships, perhaps. All-class reunions are usually held in the summer and are not to be confused with the regular homecoming that happens in the fall. As the years go by and graduating class numbers dwindle due to death and such, all-class reunions become more popular.
