Unitary authority[edit]

Doncaster MBC has been a unitary authority since 1986. The only level of local government above it is the Yorkshire and Humber regional assembly. Why do people keep changing the infobox template and introduction to suggest it is still part of administrative county (a situation which only existed between 1974 and 1986, a mere 12 years of its several hundred year history)? 194.203.110.127 09:36, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because the metropolitan boroughs are still districts of the metropolitan counties. The Local Government Act 1985 only removed the county councils, it did not change any administrative divisions. The 1990s UK local government reform did however change the administrative divisions and created unitary authorities but did not apply to the metropolitan counties. But you've been revising it to read as though my home town is in a different county to York, the county town of Yorkshire. This makes absolutely no sense. South Yorkshire was a local government division that existed between 1974 and 1986 and never altered the fact that Doncaster is in Yorkshire, and proud of it! 194.203.110.127 13:06, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No you are mistaken. The Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster is a district in the metropolitan county of South Yorkshire. That is fact. It was in 1974, in 1986 and is now. No one is saying Doncaster isn't in Yorkshire, but the metropolitan borough is a subdivision of South Yorkshire. MRSC 13:43, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so why did you also edit the Doncaster article to include this placment of it as a metropolitan district of the metropolitan "county" of South Yorkshire?

Toll Bar[edit]

I have added Toll Bar to the list of place in the Metropolitan Borough. I was surprised it was not already there! If I have have put it in the wrong place then please remove it. I would be interested if anyone would be interested on writing a short article on Toll Bar. --Vince 11:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pop stats table[edit]

Shouldn't that population statistics table be formatted like an actual table? I'd be bold about it, but don't have the necessary skills yet :-) DDNYG74B (talk) 16:25, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It already is a table. I have formatted it to look like a table. Is that what you were looking for? Keith D (talk) 17:16, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It was, thanks. The code is a little more complicated than I'd expected it to be, so thanks for the example! Oh, and for the welcome message :-) DDNYG74B (talk) 10:03, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
