Errors in reference, Italian math, or editor contributions[edit]

I saw where the information that I corrected was reverted with the summary "(Undid revision 634515714 by Otr500 (talk) no, you've miscounted them)". There actually was no counting involved. I used information provided on this article Associazione Nazionale della Pastorizia and splashed on probably every single Italian goat article on Wikipedia. The information on that article states:

The Associazione Nazionale della Pastorizia, or roughly "national association of pastoralists", is the Italian national body responsible for the administration of sheep- and goat-breeding. It maintains genealogical herdbooks for seventeen principal indigenous breeds of sheep and eight goat breeds, and also maintains less stringent herdbooks for forty-two autochthonous sheep breeds and thirty-three goat breeds of limited distribution. It records breed numbers and submits them twice yearly to DAD-IS, and keeps records for all breeders of sheep and goats in the country..

Of the 65 goat breeds listed on Wikipedia, as being "wholly or partly of Italian origin", the Associazione Nazionale della Pastorizia maintains a record on a certain number. This number is conflicting as per articles and a reference provided on my talk page here that does in fact show forty-three breeds. This information does not appear to be correct either as one breed name at the bottom of the list Valgerola is listed as being the same as the breed Orobica that is listed as one of the eight so is unlikely to be listed in both. If that is true we only end up with forty-two breeds the authority maintains, these two breeds are not the same (necessitating the double listing) and the article is in error, or there is some explanation that has been elusive thus far.

We either have a problem with the way some Italians count, conflicting references, or possibly a combination. I did not "miscount" as I did not count at all but simply used figures provided in the article about the "authority" over Italian breeds that listed thirty-three goat breeds of limited distribution so it is plain to see there was not a need to count.

I will start a discussion at Talk:Associazione Nazionale della Pastorizia, for a central location, so that I can either be corrected as to why things do not appear to make sense to me or we can solve a problem. Otr500 (talk) 09:26, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That error in the association page was my mistake (and not the only one, either); thank you for drawing attention to it. I've replied there. The association keeps (or is supposed to keep) a herd book and a record of breed numbers for a total of 51 goat breeds, 8 principal and forty-three of limited distribution. The Ciavenasca is not among them, as I hope is clear from the article? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:36, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reclassified as stub[edit]
