What happened to him after he killed Dahmer? What was the charge/trial/conviction/sentence? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.136.122.200 (talk) 01:28, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What can they do in Wisconsin since there is no death penalty what more can they do to someone already in prison? Put him in solitary confinement forever? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.239.248.1 (talk) 21:20, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is the "training program office"? 208.102.108.245 02:46, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Preacher bar?[edit]

From the article "...he beat both men with a preacher bar from a weight machine." I'm unfamiliar with the term and a very quick Google and Wiktionary search turns up no results. I assume it's part of a weight set but it throws off the sentence, assuming knowledge (of weight sets, in this case) that the reader may not have. - Ageekgal 03:57, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering the same thing myself... Jmlk17 09:24, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They've simply incorrectly conflated some terms. There's a preacher bench for curling - where you sit facing a padded board which is angled down on which you rest your upper arms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PreacherBenchBicepsCurl.JPG The idea is to hold your arms at an angle that works the bicep from the start of the range of motion. You can use pretty much any bar - straight, E-Z curl bar, even individual barbells as the photo shows. I'd bet what they mean is an E-Z curl bar.Henrydeutschendorf (talk) 02:09, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Jeffrey Dahmer article says that Scarver killed both men with a broom handle. So was it a weightlifting bar or a broom handle? RS 14:38, 20 April 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.118.116.135 (talk)

"Training program office?"[edit]

Training program for what? Some context is definitely missing there. (This is in the second paragraph.) -Elmer Clark (talk) 02:41, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can clarify this. The "Training Program Office" is the location in the prison in which inmates are let free to utilize exorcise equipment, and in some cases are given the job of cleaning this area. Scarver and the other two were cleaning the area, when he (Scarver) grabbed a small metal bar (Preachers Bar), used for weight lifting, and beat them in the heads. AtlantisEndevour 04:55, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
AtlantisEndevour, your statement here is incorrect. The "Training Program Office" is the office of the Youth Conservation Corps job program. Jeffrey Dahmer and Jesse Anderson were attacked in the prison gymnasium bathroom which they were cleaning. 86.46.45.245 (talk) 08:46, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

NYT article[edit]

The NYT article referenced for at the bottom of the article contains biographical information on Scarver. This wiki article uses the exact wording of the 1994 NYT article for much of Scarver's bio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.130.90.50 (talk) 18:48, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motive[edit]

Did Christopher Scarver explain his motivations for killing the two men? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.113.144.237 (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I sincerely doubt it was a random attack; though it cannot be proven, I strongly suspect he was hired to do so. ("Lifers" are the ideal assassins inside lock-up.) Pax 23:59, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I recall hearing there was a racial motive, both victims were white. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.19.16.56 (talk) 02:02, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Claims, says or alleges[edit]

Leaving this article with the wording "Scarver says" may steer the reader into default belief that his version of events is true (and also that Dahmer made dismembered limbs out of fries and ketchup and that guards deliberately left him alone to kill Dahmer). All 20 years after the event and accompanied by a hope of finding a publisher/autobiographer for a book (this not encroaching onto his mental illness). "Scarver says" leads the reader to believe his version of events is true. Surely unproven claims are allegations as opposed to statements?--Kieronoldham (talk) 21:16, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Anyhow I've reverted it to how you left it.--Kieronoldham (talk) 21:43, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dahmer[edit]

The opening sentence of this article refers to Jeffrey Dahmer as a 'cannibal', yet the wikipedia article on Dahmer AT NO POINT mentions Dahmer ever engaging in such an activity, only that on one occasion he 'intended' to but never did. I'm removing the word 'cannibal' from this article, as it is sensationalist.Robbmonster (talk) 11:38, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Are you serious, Robbmonster? You want to remove the 'cannibal' epithet from a mention of the Milwaukee Cannibal? Go check the article again, it mentions Dahmer's cannibalism in the very first paragraph.
100% serious, unnamed user. Especially given the ONLY place cannibalism is mentioned in the entire article is in that first paragraph. Is it not possible the whole 'Milwaukee Cannibal' thing was purely for sensationalism and dramatic effect? If Dahmer did indeed eat any or all of his victims, why does the wikipedia articale make no mention of it AT ALL? Robbmonster (talk) 06:22, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is mentioned in the wikipedia article. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:FC7E:8131:D88C:14C8 (talk) 14:12, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect information?[edit]

It states in the opening paragraph: Scarver used a 20-inch (51 cm) metal bar, which he had removed from a piece of exercise equipment in the prison weight room, to put in his own anal cavity and then then beat Dahmer and Anderson. I've never seen the bolded part referenced before, and there doesn't appear to be a source for it. Should this be deleted, or am I missing something? (Wikipedia noob, apologies if I'm off target with this!) Lozq (talk) 00:58, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism; reverted. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:17, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancy between this article and Dahmer's[edit]

In Dahmer's article, it states that "Immediately after attacking both men, Scarver, who was thought to be schizophrenic, returned to his cell and informed a prison guard: 'God told me to do it. Jesse Anderson and Jeffrey Dahmer are dead.'" and has these sources: [1][2][3]. However, in this article, the story goes that "When he returned to his cell early, an officer asked him why he was not still working. It was during that time that two officers found Dahmer and Anderson.", and has these sources: [4][5]. Dialmayo (talk) (Contribs) Please ping me when replying. 16:41, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into it further, and the Tribune source supports the Dahmer article retelling. I don't have access to the Inquirer article, and even then if it supported this one it'd be 4-1, so I went ahead and changed this article's retelling of the killing to Dahmer's article's retelling. Dates?[edit]

In 2004, Scarver brought a federal civil rights suit against officials of the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility[12] in which he argued that he had been subjected to cruel and unusual punishment, contrary to his constitutional rights.[13] Scarver stated that he spent 16 years in solitary confinement as a result of the Dahmer killing.

But this is 10 years after the killing. How was he in solitary for 16 years if the murder happened 10 years prior? 47.144.171.105 (talk) 06:03, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The statement was made in a letter to a journalist later on, it wasn't extracted from his suit. I've moved the sentence to the end of the paragraph to clear confusion. Zalmoxe (talk) 00:41, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
