Seems reasonable, if it can be reliably sourced. It doesn't seem like a particularly contentious statement; in fact, I found that even Sirius XM satellite radio labels the recording "Carol of the Bells" instead of "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24". Powers ^T 03:00, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced background[edit]

I have removed the following section:

The story is a conflation of two performing acts active during the siege, "cellist of Sarajevo" Vedran Smailović (who was in his mid-30s at the time of the siege) and the Sarajevo String Quartet,^[1]^{[failed verification]} of which Smailović was not a member but has maintained a close association.^[2]^{[failed verification]}

The sources cited confirm that the two acts described existed during the siege. The sources do not say they were the only two and do not relate them to the song in any way. The song is the topic of this article. Including the above text makes the unsourced claim that the song is based on these two stories. Removing the claim (but retaining the stories) makes the unsourced implication that the stories are the basis for the song (or are related in some other, unspecified way).

It would be great to be able to provide background on the song. Some unknown Wikipedia editor's guess as to what that background might be is not the background of the song. - SummerPhD^v2.0 23:56, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
