Purple vs blue links[edit]

I don't get the purple vs blue highlighted text for links. Something to do with pages I (?) haven't visited? Or? MackDano (talk) 03:46, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it has to do with whether you have visited an article already or not. Wikilinks become purple if you have visited an article already. See: H:LC. 𝕎.𝔾.𝕁. (chat | contribs) 07:46, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion of Christina Ward Biography[edit]

COI[edit]

Yes, I understand that this biography would be flagged under COI due to my relationship with the person. I felt that I could write a reasonable 3rd party article documenting Ms Wards accomplishments, since she is increasing her book writing and becoming more recognized in the publishing arena. Unless someone else in the Wikimedia:WikiProject_Biography or a person interested in both Food culture and wiki-page generation would take enough interest, only people who knew Ms Ward would write the wiki-page, and all of those would have a COI. So who determines when a person is significant enough to garner a page? As noted below; anybody can create a wiki-page, but who determines if its relevant? The active wiki-editors. OK, so I deemed it relevant, created the page since it documents the increasing activity and writing of Ms. Ward. Now do we vote on relevance (joking)?

Should I ask the Womens Writers WikiProject to add Christina Ward to their list? I'm not personally interested in writing about women, my expertise is satellites.

Kj_cheetham Other than the COI issue, how would you suggest that this initial version of the biography be improved? Is there too much personal information, or are the linked sources irrelevant? Not everyone has reams of historical references, but that does not mean there should not be a wiki-page about them. Many, many authors have wiki-pages and they have written just one, two, several books and no articles, no contributions to other media, no primary employment as an editor at a significant publishing house. When are a persons actions enough to warrant a wiki-page and who decides? Isn't really that any page can be created, and the active wiki-editors through ?? Consensus? decide if that page is relevant?

Hi, I'm afraid I've not got the capacity to do a more in-depth review of this article at the moment, but for notability of authors in particular, please see WP:NAUTHOR and WP:BIO more generally. This article is already on the list for the Womens Writers WikiProject, as I tagged it above. It wasn't me who tagged the article regarding notability, but I would suspect the subject is notable, but there's no need for a list of all media appearances for instance. -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:20, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kj_cheetham I read the WP:NBASIC and this article meets that basic criteria. Agreed? As it states, the article/Bio does not have to meet any of the follow on more stringent criteria to be considered "notable". — Preceding unsigned comment added by MackDano (talkcontribs) 02:01, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
