How many?[edit]

This comment was erased by Carl.bunderson, but I'm not trying to open a general chat here, I'm just trying to improve the article. It seems that the most obvious piece of information for an article about a group of people (such as this article) is to specify who that group are. For starters, is it a big group or just a few isolated individuals? Surely a most basic fact that we should add to the lead is an estimate of the size of the topic group. Are there any historical records or other citable sources (which detail or analyse this group of people as a whole) that we (or I) can use for background information (and as references) for improving the general content of this article (as opposed to just individual examples)? I'm specifically thinking of quantitative profiles of the group over time, rather than profiles (or nonquantitative opinions) of selected individuals. Under the "Historical Importance", Somebody has decided that the scholarly consensus of number of martyrs is "relatively few" without providing a source. Relative to what exactly? Please provide sources or remove. 184.153.187.119 (talk) 00:34, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit on Intro Paragraph[edit]

I edited a sentence in the introductory paragraph. It originally said "A martyr's death was considered a "baptism in blood," cleansing one of sin as baptism in water depicts; while the act of baptism does not provide the forgiveness of sins, it is a clear picture of it." While this reflects the view of many Evangelical Christians, it does not reflect the NPOV stance of wikipedia. The current sentence now states "A martyr's death was considered a "baptism in blood," cleansing one of sin, similar to the affect of baptism in water." Make any changes to that you see fit. "Christian martyrs today" doesn't actually talk about Christian martyrs today[edit]

There are countless recent examples of Christians being killed for their faith (see Persecution of Christians#In the Muslim world). Why aren’t any of them mentioned? I💖平沢唯 (talk) 10:55, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
