Zonal 3.1[edit]

FIDE updated its List of qualifiers for World Cup. From Zonal 3.1 the qualifier is "Al Sayed, Mohamed N. (QAT)". Al Sayed and Al-Modiahki shared 1st place, but it is not known if there is some tie-break criteria. Al Sayed has better Sonneborn-Berger score (26.75 vs Al-Modiahki's 26.5) and it seems that he is in. Arimakat (talk) 14:07, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The rating list[edit]

For purposes of pairings the players shall be ranked according to the most recent rating list. FIDE changed rating rules from July 1st, and lists will be published every two months (September 2009, November 2009, January 2010). Arimakat (talk) 00:30, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well done editors...[edit]

A nice little pat on the back today from Mig Greengard's popular blog: "...now up in several places, including on Wikipedia with the most legible brackets around." (http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt/2009/11/world-cup-09-r2.htm) Peter Ballard (talk) 06:10, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
