Station name and name boards[edit]

I have reverted some of the recent changes to this article.

The station's name is Central Station not Central - as evidenced by the timetable and platform signs. This is a separate issue to the adjacent National Rail station.

I don't know of a rule that says the infobox name must be text rather than a graphic. The infoboxes are based on the London Underground ones, which use similar nameboards.

This was proposed on the project talk page, and was not opposed. Please see that page for information. Chris cheese whine 20:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah you mean you mentioned it and no-one else has commented on it yet. That's quite different. Being as you're aware of a lack of consensus now, the civil thing would have been to leave my reversions until consensus has been reached.DrFrench 21:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't a "lack of consensus". Consensus is that images should fulfill one of three functions: appearance, structure and concept. It has always been the case that we don't use images for purely cosmetic purposes as you are suggesting. Chris cheese whine 21:13, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Who is this 'we' you talk of? (Comments posted on your talk page User talk:Chriscf#Images in infoboxes.) DrFrench 21:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me? You're the one challenging my edits, the onus is on you to back up that challenge. Chris cheese whine 21:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"as evidenced by the timetable" - just to point out that the Metro/Nexus website timetable section refers to the station simply as Central. Also please be aware that recent communications by Nexus, including the recent Metro Reinvigoration Business Case, refer to the station simply as Central.
As for the name boards, as I stated previously at Template talk:Infobox T&W Metro station, I've no strong objections to them, but the appearance of the boards was somewhat haphazard and ugly. This needs to be addressed if/when they are readded to the template.   johnwalton   (talk) 21:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
