Mexicali–Calexico → Calexico–Mexicali – As a news search on Google will show, Calexico-Mexicali is the more popular and common name with 146 news hits while the less common Mexicali-Calexico receives only 97 hits. A Google Books search reveals again that the less common name receives a fewer amount of hits, 540, than the more common name which receives 689. In this instance it would seem that it is not the largest city that is listed first, just what is the most commonly used. Thus, in accordance with WP:COMMONNAME, I suggest this article be moved back to its original title. 08OceanBeach^S.D. 15:23, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It may be important to note that in one instance Mexicali-Calexico appeared to be the more popular name on a Google Scholar search where it received 179 hits; greater than the 174 hits that Calexico-Mexicali received. 08OceanBeach^S.D. 15:27, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I my search Calexico-Mexicali has 170K hits, while Mexicali-Calexico has the same 170K hits. The news search results is understandable, the Imperial Valley media in Spanish is about the same size of the English-media, in my news search i found 2 hits for Mexicali-Calexico, and 0 hits for Calexico-Mexicali. In addition Mexicali is the economic engine of both regions, and the most important city by population about 8-1 (including all the IV population).

In a related topic, here in the region is common to associate El Centro and Yuma areas in one region 40 minutes away (30 minutes from East Calexico Port of Entry highway junction), the I-8 is sparsely populated between both cities, however Winterhaven is adjacent to Yuma. In the Mexican side, Mexicali and San Luis Rio Colorado are 30 minutes away, but the Federal Highway #2 is highly populated with many ejidos (rural towns) and intersection to near ejidos or valley cities, actually Los Algodones is usually used as a second Port of Entry by San Luis inhabitants. Support. If sources are split (and in this case they actually lean towards Calexico–Mexicali), then it would just seem to be common sense to go with alphabetical order (i.e. Calexico–Mexicali). Jenks24 (talk) 16:29, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
