value of daily update sections?[edit]

Lately the daily updates to this page have just been a matter of copying data from the "MN Official" reference page

1. Does it add value to copy this data here? 2. If we no longer copy it, should we remove daily updates that have no information other than the "MN Official" data?

Possible Programming Error: Reporting by County[edit]

There appears to be a programming error within the table that reports COVID-19 data by Minnesota county.[edit]

This 'Talk Page' describes that problem and suggests a possible cause (possible correction?).

Symptom: For seven of Minnesota's counties listed in the table, statistics are incorrectly being left blank, even though the website https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/situation.html is providing statistics. See attached jpg.

It's my suspicion that this problem is caused by a mismatched naming convention where "St. Louis" does not equal "Saint Louis". Wikipedia is using the county name "Saint Louis" but www.health.state.mn.us is using the county name "St. Louis".

Please notice that the reporting problem:

BEGINS occurring with this name mismatch (St. Louis VS. Saint Louis)
CONTINUES alphabetically; affect all subsequent county names until having reached county names that start with the letters "St "
ENDS with resumption of correct reporting starting with "Swift" county.

It's hoped that the detail in this 'Talk Page' will allow the web page authors to make corrections that allow complete county reporting to resume. The detail provided in this page is valued a great deal!

COVID-19 pandemic in the Twin Cities[edit]

Hello Wikipedians from the Twin Cities region either Minneapolis residents or Saint Paul residents, So the top two largest cities in Minnesota is Minneapolis and Saint Paul respectively, specifically the largest city in the state of Minnesota is Minneapolis and the second largest city and the state capital of Minnesota is Saint Paul. I hope anyone will create article titled COVID-19 pandemic in the Twin Cities a sister article to the COVID-19 pandemic in Minnesota, The proposed article will be titled as COVID-19 pandemic in the Twin Cities similar to another article titled COVID-19 pandemic in the San Francisco Bay Area. The newly created article will be focused on the pandemic specifically on both the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul known collectively as the "Twin Cities". The propose article will include how many active cases, how many deaths, how many recoveries and how many overall cases on both the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. I will by happy for anyone's reply for the requested article to created and will be only focused on the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Charts & Statistics for Covid-19 cases... Looking for UPDATES[edit]

We like updates to information about Covid-19... particularly where the info represents RECENT/CURRENT rates of infection per-capita. The bar-chart from MN DoH near bottom of this page, in "Statistics" section has good labeling & detail; but does raise some questions: (1) Please provide SOURCE LINK for data used to create graphs. (2) Chart labels about 30% of cases as "Normal". What defines a "Normal" Covid-19 case within the data source? (3) Chart says "Updated weekly", but the version displayed on this Wiki page has not been updated since May-07-2020 (six months).

Asking for Clarification, Suggesting improved view: Each bar on this graph seems to be "Cumulative" with case numbers being added from zero-date of graph. While this does give an idea of total people affected, this makes it more difficult to have a clear understanding of NEW/Active cases at any point in time...see where active "hot spots" are developing... or get a sense of where progress is being made with fewer new/active cases reported. It would be good to show multiple views of this data+graph, some with weekly rates, others cumulative.

The maps shown in upper/right of page are usefull in this regard, since one shows RECENT infection rates by county (within 14 days) and the 2nd map shows cumulative cases by county.

To provide better information going forward... where can data be found for (a)vaccination rates by region [zip code, or county] (b)time span to recovery (c) rates of hospitalization for people who did contract the disease [or test positive]? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CDDC:85B0:0:0:0:48 (talk) 15:37, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Will Update: Timeline for 2021 and 2022.[edit]

   The COVID-19 timeline section will be updated; it appears that it was last updated on December 14, 2020. In addition, the entire 2021 timeline is missing, and the first two months of 2022 must be updated as well. 
   Second, we plan to update the state of the government and the city of Minnesota, both of which were last updated on September 15, 2021. Third, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on a variety of economic sectors, including education, healthcare, employment, labor issues, and livelihood. The impact of COVID-19 in the city of Minnesota will be reflected and updated.
   Fourth, we plan to include some statistics from the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 data, as someone mentioned on the talk page that more data and statistics are needed. Finally, we intend to improve the overall ORES score of the wikipedia article.
