Gordonstoun[edit]

"needed a new home due to World War II." - Why? --MacRusgail (talk) 16:11, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The immediate reason was, like so many mansions, the Gordonstoun estate in Scotland was taken over by the British Army for use as barracks. Additional factors were to be away from the range of air raids, which as early as 1939 (when Rosyth dockyard was attacked) were a recurring danger on Scotland's East coast.Cloptonson (talk) 19:35, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update - Broneirion being sold[edit]

I was surprised to read tonight in my county newspaper (which covers Mid Wales) that Broneirion is being sold and closed by Girlguiding Cymru. I have written a subsection titled Future of Guiding Centre with information cited to the newspaper's report.Cloptonson (talk) 19:05, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
