Brockley Whins is an area within the town of South Shields and has postcode NE34https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode. A station of the same name on the Tyne and Wear Metro system is close by.
The origin of the name is from a farm which was located in what is now the Biddick Hall estate, about 400 meters East ("Brockley" means "of badgers" and "Whins" are bushes). In 1839 the Brandling Junction railway was built, which met the Stanhope and Tyne railway near here, some 200 meters East of the current Metro station.
