Broken link[edit]

The link to :Did Brian Grazer take a page from his wife's novels in filing for a separation?" appears broken. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.167.140.93 (talk) 02:27, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Why current?[edit]

This article sucks[edit]

The movies are out of order, it tells nothing of how he got started in the movie industry and there is a ton more information available on Grazer than what movies he's produced and his divorces. I don't have the time to do it myself now but will try to add some things later 58.8.15.206 (talk) 12:09, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of RS sourced content[edit]

All Hallow's Wraith just deleted an RS ref. And RS-supported text stating "third-party reports conflicted as to whether he was Jewish or a practicing Christian." See here.

AHW's edit summary reads: "Danielle Berrin is a random blogger who made a random comment; Cleveland Jewish News source corrected itself."

However, Cleveland Jewish News reported in its article "Jewish Stars 12/2", by Nate Bloom, on December 1, 2011 that Grazer was Jewish.

And though he deleted the text that RS supports, AHW never explained why. And his edit summary fails to mention the Nate Bloom article.

Similarly, Danielle Berrin is a staff writer, for the Jewish Journal. And she reflected on July 2, 2009, that Grazer was Jewish.

It is troubling when an editor removes RSs, and text supported by RSs. It is more troubling when he does it repeatedly. And it is of greater concern when his bent appears to be to strip articles of mention that a person is Jewish.

I'm reverting the unwarranted deletions of RSs by All Hallow's Wraith. As well as his deletion of the text directly supported by the RSs.--Epeefleche (talk) 01:03, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Danielle Berrin thing is a blurb that describes Grazer as a "fellow heeb". This does not meet any reliable source criteria. Yes, the Cleveland Jewish News apparently stated that Grazer is Jewish, on December 1, 2011. Then, a week later, they printed a correction, saying that he was Christian. That is kind of the point. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 01:51, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

None of the sources indicate that he is or ever was a practitioner of Judaism merely that he had a Jewish mother. One can be both ethnically Jewish and a practicing Christian. We need something that states that he follows Judaism to state that there is a conflict. Nate Bloom is very careful hence his correction.Patapsco913 (talk)

  • All we do is reflect what the RSs say, as accurately as possible.--Epeefleche (talk) 17:02, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
but there are not any reliable sources indicating that he is not a Christian. You have one that says he is "half-Jew" which he is ethnically (which remained in the text}; for some reason you keep in the original source that was later corrected to indicate that he is a practicing Christian; and the last reliable source, a blurb in a blog, states "Akiva Goldsman, who worked with fellow heeb Brian Grazer on 'A Beautiful Mind...'". There is nothing that contradicts that he is a Christian with half-Jewish ethnicity or are you saying that everyone who is "Jewish" is necessarily a practitioner of Judaism?Patapsco913 (talk)
We should simply reflect all RS sources on the issue, and if they at different times indicate different conditions (at the respective times), we should reflect that, accurately. If at different times he, as reported in RSs, describes himself as x, was a practicing Christian as reported by "y", or worked with a fellow Jew, that is all appropriate to reflect. We should reflect it all, and attribute it properly. I'm not at all saying that everyone who is Jewish is a practitioner -- that's certainly not the case, just to answer your question. I agree that this is a more complicated bio than most, but the only way to properly handle it is to lay bare and attribute what he says (which is most important, temporal issues aside), and what the RSs say.--Epeefleche (talk) 17:17, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well we should not leave the original article by Nate Bloom as a reference since it was later corrected. And we should break the sentence up to show that we are referring to the Jewish faith and not the Jewish ethnicity so it is more clear to the readers. That said, I still do not see a specific reference that he is a practitioner of Judaism; merely that he is ethnically half-Jewish.Patapsco913 (talk)
I think that that references the sentence, which indicates the differing reports, and the full quote in the later Bloom ref is explanatory. If you want to add something to the first ref (e.g., later corrected), that's fine, but the sentence that is supports relates to the different reports. In 2011, Bloom indicated that he was a practicing Christian, and we should (and do) reflect that -- but we don't know when he became so. In 2009, he was reported to be Jewish. The source (as is not uncommon) doesn't itself distinguish between whether he is practicing or not, and we should just accurately describe (and go not further than, to avoid OR) the source. BTW -- I don't think anybody with knowledge thinks for a moment that to be Jewish one has to go to synagogue or have a Bar Mitzvah party ... that's simply not a criteria.--Epeefleche (talk) 18:46, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
