Lowder has long been regarded as one of the more powerful behind the scenes trustees at Auburn. In 2003 when then University President William Walker Jr. and athletic director David Housel secretly spoke with Bobby Petrino about taking over Tommy Tuberville's job, it was Lowder's private jet which they flew to Louisville.

But, this is true, and was reported in several places.

Lowder's micromanagement in the football program was one of the major reasons why Auburn was put on academic probation by SACS in 2004.

This is also a true statement and was reported in many places. A major public university like Auburn having its accreditation put in jeopardy is a pretty noteworthy fact. Why omit it?
