Movie version[edit]

The article makes reference to "the movie". Is there a standard movie version of the opera? Can a reference to that be added? --Malcohol 11:03, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a movie version with Robert Lloyd & Elizibeth Laurence NVC Arts/Teldec. Unfortunatly it is only in the UK pal format. I ordered it from Amazon.UK.co 2 years ago but havn't yet transfered it to NTSC format. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364318/ I just checked again and it seems to out of print everywhere

I really like it. The production is literal to the dialogue; rather than the doors and lights of the stage version, there are actual rooms and armor and a garden, etc. The exception is the first door, where as far as I can tell they just couldn't get the props together or something, so there's nothing in there (except for bleeding walls). The fifth door is kind of bizarre too. But the singing is good, orchestra is good, general ambiance is good, costumes are good, ending is really f'ing scary. Acting is no revelation, but it's fine. I don't really know what more you could do with these roles unless you were going to take the text very literally, which would also be weird. --Chinasaur 04:58, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Intresting I'm gonna have to transfer it to NTSC format and watch it. I'm kind of a film auteur myself and would love to do it as a movie. I would have about 1/2 hour of dialogue about a man who is in a catatonic coma as the dialogue then go into the opera as if it it was in his mind. It would be in the same vein as Das Cabinet des Doktor Caligari. Of course who would you cast as Bluebeard & Judith?NicholasPrakash 17:20, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The ending[edit]

WTF about the ending? I find it rather stupid to say that "a new ending [was] added in 1917" and then not to speak about that again. Either the original ending is known, or it is not: if it is not known, just fucking write that, and if it is, of course write that in the synopsis. --Lo'oris (talk) 09:44, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Opera Company production[edit]

Is there a reason that the Canadian Opera Company production is not listed in the Performance History section? I'm not familiar with any Wikipedia standard or guidelines on what should and should not be included in sections such as this; if there are some, can someone provide a reference? It's probably just not complete -- I don't see why you can't add it. I saw a brilliant production of Bluebeard's Castle just a few months ago (November 2014) by the Los Angeles Opera, which I suppose could also be mentioned. Antandrus (talk) 03:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi GCL. As Antandrus says, the section may simply be incomplete. However, there have been dozens of productions of this opera worldwide. Generally, we list country premieres, premieres of revised versions, or productions that have been particularly notable in some way—a role debut of the lead singer(s), unusual staging, etc. I would suggest only adding other productions if they supported by an inline reference attesting to the notability of that production. Why no "duke" in the English title?[edit]

Can somebody please explain why the Hungarian and German versions of the title include the title "Duke" (herceg/ Herzog) but the English version does not? 75.169.12.27 (talk) 04:36, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
