Parrot Hybrids[edit]

The whole section dealing with parrot hybrids needs to be re-written. One of the supposed hybrids (cockatoo with a cockatiel) is laughably absurd. Unfortunately, we are now getting into the situation where hybrids are mating with hybrids-a mess. I will clean it up, but will stick to known, verifiable, first generation hybrids.

Page[edit]

Is this page necessary? It is such an unusual topic, broad enough to be difficult to even expand. Maybe belongs in Hybridization in birds or included in some other article? Or possibly nominated for AfD. Andrew Z. Colvin • Talk 04:54, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It could logically form part of Bird fancy but at the mo that just redirects to Animal fancy. It could much less comfortably sit in Aviculture but it's really too low-level for that. As for AfD, there is no doubt the topic exists and that reliable sources can be found for it. I suggest making some kind of stub structure for Bird fancy. It could include a section on Pigeon fancy. Yeah there is a decent amount if literature on the topic. I guess it is fine for now. It just needs work. I may eventually write speciation in birds and it would fit perfectly there. Andrew Z. Colvin • Talk 20:35, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New edits[edit]

Hello everyone,

I just added a paragraph on wild bird hybrids and shifted some sentences around; I think it is more logically structured now, though of course it still needs work! Take a peek and let us know what you think. I'm sure the (two sentence) paragraph on captive bird hybrids could be expanded more, but I don't know much about that subject so...
