Untitled[edit]

Couldn't find any confirmation of when the awards began, nor clarification of their relationship (if any) to the larger Billboard Music Awards. The official site makes reference to the conference itself being "in its 17th year" as of early 2006, but Google searches and perusal of the official site didn't turn up any specific date for the initiation of the awards -- only for the telecast.
