"Kansas Record Against Big 12 Conference Opponents" tables labelling[edit]

Edits done March 15, 2013 -- I found the original labels to be either amenable to simplification or open to question. 1. The main table heading is simplified by the use of the heading as written here, rendering the subsequent explanatory text unnecessary. The knowledgable reader immediately knows the table does not include, for example, Self's wins against Missouri while head coach at Illinois. 2. The label for the newly added "Former Big 12 Members" table needs to clarify that subsequent games against these programs (such as the Colorado game played Dec 8, 2013) are NOT included in the data shown. The explanatory text is necessary in this instance to assure the reader that only games against these programs as Big 12 members are being counted. That is, the table is not Self's complete record against these programs as KU head coach if KU ever plays against those 4 programs again. 3. Adding the word "Opponent" to the final table heading "Total versus Big 12 Opponents" re-emphasizes that second point. LTCUSARet (talk) 06:17, 15 March 2013 (UTC)LTCUSARet[reply]

Final Four appearances[edit]

The page says that Self "is one of four active coaches (along with Rick Pitino, Lon Kruger, and John Calipari) that have led three different teams to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament". This should be one of three coaches, as Calipari's NCAA tournament wins with Memphis[1] and UMass[2] have been vacated and they are officially not considered to be Final Four or Elite Eight teams. SumnerH (talk) 03:07, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Addition: Actually the whole stat is wrong. Eddie Sutton and Gene Bartow both coached 3 different teams to the Elite Eight as well per http://www.thescore.com/news/964528 ; I'm yanking the whole fact since it's poorly researched, incorrect, and not especially critical to the article. EDIT: Wait, active coaches only. So it's back to the Calipari issue. Leaving more time for comment before editing.

Vacated Wins and F4 Appearance[edit]

These should be re-added to Self’s totals at the top of this page, with an asterisk. This would mirror the style of the Kansas men’s basketball page and give better broad context, especially in light of the fact that record keepers will treat the NCAA’s vacation of wins differently (i.e. more or less seriously). 98.213.80.143 (talk) 14:33, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What’s more, there’s a strange inconsistency here where the 2018 Final Four appearance has been scrubbed from the top of the page, but Self’s vacated wins remain part of his record, without any asterisk or aside giving context. 98.213.80.143 (talk) 14:36, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
