The article's lead contains the following:

"Bill Allen was born in New Mexico and at the age of 16 left for the oil fields of Alaska to become a welder to help support his family."

Information is scarce, but best indications are that Allen was born in 1937. By 1953 or 1954, there was active oil exploration occurring on both the North Slope and the Kenai Peninsula, but no real "oil industry" to speak of. Most of the real action at that time centered among speculation on oil leases amongst members of the Anchorage business community. This statement may need to be confirmed through reliable sources. While we're at it: I realize that this article was constructed mainly as a coatrack to the Alaska political corruption probe article. However, I came across this and this. NPOV dispute[edit]

I do not believe this article paints Allen in a negative light. It doesn't even mention his pedophilia accusations, which are well documented elsewhere. I've removed one statement but it just seems that this whole article is biased towards Allen. ~ AlaskaGal~ ^_^ 20:22, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
