Big Bad Mouse original cast

Big Bad Mouse was originally tried out using Dave King and Charlie Chester. However, it didnt even make enough to pay the Usherettes, and didnt last a week. The next time it was tried was with Hugh Lloyd and Terry Scott, but even that pair of master comedians couldn't breathe any life into it. It was only then that Michael Codron offered the play to Sykes and Edwards.

Furthermore, Sykes and Edwards did not 'rip the script to shreds'. In fact they were threatened with court action if they dared to alter one single word of the script, so they played it straight as written, and exactly one week later, the play had flopped exactly as it had twice previously. Being unable to change the words of the script, they realised that didnt preclude them from adding there own lines in between, which is what they did, thus avoiding legal action and making the play far more hilarious than as written.

Later Versions[edit]

I saw Big Bad Mouse in Chicago in 1975 with Jimmy Edwards and Eric Sykes. I don't know if this was part of a larger tour, but I think some mention of it should be made.WEG060354 (talk) 23:20, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
