Deletion of the word Conflict in regards to the Kashmir Conflict, and of the Election Commission of India's attempted rigging of 1988 by-poll from lede[edit]

A brief back ground User:JaggaDaaku, who started editing wikipedia since December 2021, and only thus far focused on India related articles, made two deletions on this page. The first was the word "conflict", that the editor deleted with the explanation that it was "controversial". I felt it was quite fitting description, and reverted the edit, and had suggested that the editor reach consensus on this talk page first prior to deleting info that had been on the page for years. User:Kleuske then wrote on my talk page that in fact, I must start this discussion instead or else he felt the matter should go to the the appropriate noticeboard, (which I have encouraged him to do so also).

Further the initial deleting editor also deleted the line that the Election Commission of India had attempted to rig a 1988 parliamentary by-election against Bhim Singh which had reference to Hindustan Times. However, the deleting editor focused only mentioning a reference to Cross Town News, and content there that had mentioned Bhim Singh for nomination in the upcoming 2022 presidential elections. I believe User:Equivamp, is also involved in a similar debate, with the aforementioned deleting editor on the Karan Singh article, so your thoughts would also be appreciated here. --Death Star Central (talk) 20:22, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Death Star Central: The deletion of claim referenced to Hindustan Times was a mistake I had done. Since knowing it I have not touched that part. And I said that putting the word conflict might be controversial. Because the article which is takes us to was terrorism in India. So let's do either of one thing.

  • Let the word conflict be removed and be it terrorism hit state.
  • Or remove the link because in conflict and terrorism in that region. How can it be the exact same thing. On what basis is conflict and terrorism the same thing. JaggaDaaku (talk) 02:51, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the phrase "conflict-torn" or whatever. It is entirely inappropriate for the lead sentence as a descriptor of the state.
Death Star Central, you have added in this edit, a whole bunch of controversial qualifiers without any source. Which source is saying these things? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:40, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Regarding the 1988 bye-election, I notice the Hindustan Times saying that "he won", but there is no explanation for the basis of this. Kashmir Life was the same. The actual state of matters, as made clear in the Supreme Court judgement [1], was the election result was set aside.
