Marriage[edit]

I see that this rower retired from competitions after the 1984 Olympics. Is it known when she got married? If she married while still competing, all is good. If she married after her retirement, I suggest that it's more likely that her common name is her maiden name (but exceptions are possible, of course). This is often overlooked with female athletes. See, for example, this fix up. Schwede66 07:13, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

She didn't retire until after the 1986 World Championships (hence "who represented Great Britain from 1975 to 1986"). As it says in the article, her gold medal was in 1985. She raced as Mitchell up to & including 1984,[1] and as Crockford for 1985 & 1986.[2] I did, of course, include a redirect from the other name. --David Biddulph (talk) 07:50, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

One indication of "common name" is that a Google search for "Beryl Crockford" rowing returns 780 results, whereas "Beryl Mitchell" rowing returns 536. --David Biddulph (talk) 08:14, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
