Plot Section[edit]

The plot section makes no sense and appears to be incomplete. Because of the nonsensical plot, I reverted the page to a lengthy (but sensible) version. Feel free to shorten it, but let's not make it impossible to understand.73.135.55.13 (talk) 22:52, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- He compares the hand-to-hand exchange of cash and pills is counterposed to the overarching sense of the Bach cantata, although the film presents only a portion of one motet from the cantata.
- He contrasts the tightly-hung gallery of prints, simultaneously post-modern and yet bourgeois in its selection, at the family table with Benny's fascination with Donald Duck cartoons and video imagery.
- He relates the film to the Zygmunt Bauman essay "Modernity and Ambivalence: The End of Unambiguity."
- He analyzes the Arno Frisch performance as "almost irritatingly monotonous, ...as if behind the visible gaze is the eye of a camera, which scans reality for its ability to be transferred to film."
- He considers how Benny's parents are also perpetrators, or at least ennablers, of the murder and how Benny embodies the fundamental difference between the perpetrator and victim.
