Sales[edit]

"In the next quarter century, the book reputedly outsold any other single volume of verses". This seems unlikely precisely in the quarter century of Rudyard Kipling's greatest sales. A particular and circumscribed market may be clearly intended from the quote's context. Or it may just be bluff.--Wetman (talk) 07:12, 18 September 2008 (UTC)--Wetman (talk) 07:12, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. A particular and circumscribed market may indeed be the answer, but that was not indicated by the quote's context. nevertheless I'll make an amendment later today to try to route around the issue. Don't discount the possibility, though. I'm sure Pam Ayers outsells any given bunch of more orthodox poets, Roger McGough excluded. --Tagishsimon (talk) 09:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In King's more focused market, this statement is asserting that he outsold, say, James Whitcomb Riley, to take a directly competitive example.--Wetman (talk) 18:19, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
