Belmont Manor House[edit]

George Kephart, the slave trader working out of Alexandria and one of the South's largest slave traders (if not THE largest slave trader) owned Belmont. There is no reference to Kephart on the wikipedia page, which seems to be an oversight. Lee1101 (talk) 18:55, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I added that mention yesterday (despite continued cyberharassment problems possibly related to an AI bot checking my wikipedia edits), noting that it was mentioned in the NRIS cited. I'm writing here because today's cyberharassment in part seems to prohibit me from accessing your userpage to gently suggest that you make the change. For what it's worth, that NRIS has an error in stating that a former Kansas governor owned the property. Though I have no idea when or if I'll be able to doublecheck the info, I think the post-Civil War owner referred to might've actually been Frederick P. Stanton, an Alexandria native who did serve as a Kansas territorial officer. As you probably know, I edited the Margaret Mercer article back in May to mention Kephart.Jweaver28 (talk) 18:10, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
