You win. The link stays. Think you can find enough material to create a page about the Kapoteh? Daykart 08:21, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Kapote is essentially the same as a Bekishe, both are long black coats. --PinchasC | £€åV€ m€ å m€§§åg€ 15:34, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. And Chabad should be a redirect to Satmar because both are Hasidic sects. Daykart 17:30, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Daykart, this kind of response is unhelpful. JFW | T@lk 08:18, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay then, here's a helpful response: Does the Bekishe also have a rounded corner? My father's Chalat only had two corners, as far as I can recall; but most Zaidenah Bekishes which I've seen have the split in back. Daykart 15:06, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The difference between a bekishe and a kapoteh is that a bekishe has six buttons in the front and no slit in the back, while a kapoteh has four buttons in the front and a slit in the back. A kapoteh has two buttons in the back, as does a zeidineh bekishe, but most tish bekishes don't. Itzik18 01:27, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt there will be enough material for two pages, unless there has been some textiles sociologist comparing different garbs and written a long study about their significance :-) JFW | T@lk 18:22, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, but that's a good idea. :) Seriously though, I'd appreciate if someone would answer my question. Daykart 19:18, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Don't ask me. I'm a Yekke. JFW | T@lk 20:38, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone mind if I add that Stam Hungarians and Yerushalmis wear bekishes, not just Chasidim? 88.152.2.248 00:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are there really a lot of golden bekishes in Beitar illit, particularly from the list of groups right before the sentance. I really doubt there are a huge number of toldos aaron and neturei karta celebrating shabbos in beitar illit. 79.179.26.179 (talk) 01:43, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

more to it[edit]

There's more of interest: what is the word's origin? And what do men wear underneath? Means - one can see either white or black socks or tights up to the calf. Any meaning of colours and why no long trousers etc.? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.108.27.201 (talk) 02:53, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Find a decent picture somewhere[edit]

Although there is plenty of verbiage in the discussion, neither of these pictures shows anything useful about the particulars of this coat. 173.162.253.101 (talk) 20:20, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?[edit]

Kapoteh was merge here to Bekishe. Should this end result of Bekishe be merged with Rekel in turn? PPEMES (talk) 16:16, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

why not give each a chance to grow, instead of doing a wedding before the Bar Mitzvah? Nuts240 (talk) 07:29, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
