A little cleanup is needed[edit]

"Hawija which is located 50 kilometres (31 mi) had been a bastion of Sunni Arab insurgents..". Something is missing in the middle there. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:14, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Plus the link Mosul offensive needs to be disambiguated. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:19, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Showing battle as ended[edit]

I don't know why some editors are in such a hurry to show this offensive as ended. They even removed content of a reliable source which clearly said ISIL still controlled some points as of October 7 situation in Iraq's Hawija area on October 7, 2017 (Map). Ever since Iraqi forces announced they recaptured Hawija, one or the other person has been trying to show it as ended.

I don't understand why they can't wait for a few days. I too had a similar problem with Battle of Mosul, I thought the battle was over after 10th July, but as sources said the battle was still ongoing, I thought it would be wise to change the end date to late-July when major clashes stopped. People are even using things like Twitter, we don't know who these people are, some social media posts by random persons cannot be used as reliable sources here, even if you regularly use them on other pages. But above all, I don't understand why some can't wait just for a few days to show it as ended. MonsterHunter32 (talk) 21:36, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid eruption of any edit war or major dispute, I've made a compromise of Basnews showing the map of only west Anbar under ISIS control with victory in Hawija instead of using a Twitter source like Iraq Day. However, I think it will be better if this offensive is shown as ongoing for the time being. MonsterHunter32 (talk) 22:14, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
