Battle of BerberaAttack on Berbera (1827) – Or perhaps Blockade of Berbera (1827). I think we should avoid the "Battle of" form for descriptive titles; too easy to take for a proper name. Berbera was also attacked in 1940. Srnec (talk) 00:14, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Blockade of Berbera (1827) seems most precise. No such user (talk) 08:20, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would support Blockade of Berbera (1827) if anything, but still believe this minor event belongs as a section of the Berbera main article and not as an article in its own right. It remains a very fanciful page based on dubious sourcing and puffing up the significance of a very minor historical event which concluded with absolutely no change to the status quo. The blockade was already in place from 1825-1827 so "Blockade of Berbera 1827" seemingly minimizes it's duration. I believe Berbera Punitive Expedition makes more sense as the squadron was dispatched to collect restitution for the 1825 massacre. Quite disappointed Alexandermcnabb after having failed to make a serious case on the deletion page continues to peddle the 'false' information narrative. I agree that Battle of Berbera as a title can be changed! Cheers WanderingGeeljire (talk) 22:58, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In my Opinion it shouldn’t be called the Battle of Berbera since the Battle of Berbera occurred in 1940 and more people are familiar with the second battle. Instead it should be called the punitive expedition since it was a decssive British victory and the British were allowed to cross Berbera and were enabled to aces many goods. Yours. • Oppose. The proposal and discussion above all misses the point. The question, is what do reliable secondary sources call this event? Not our own opinions of what we would like it called. These opinions may be valid but here is not the place to promote them. Andrewa (talk) 19:55, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That really is the point. There is no reliable secondary source that calls this relatively minor incident 'The Battle of Berbera'. The title has been conferred on it by the page's creator (and also within the main 'Berbera' article) and is already creating a nice false positive online. History does not recognise this event with this title, and history does not afford the events in Berbera at this time with anything like the prominence they are now being given on Wikipedia.
