I think this page should perhaps be called "Track (automotive)", as in the automotive field it is not referred to as "axle track" but simply "track". The only reason I have initally gone with "Axle track" is that was the term used on the Track disambiguation page. Thoughts? Erelyes (talk) 07:40, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I dont really agree to the 'automotive' move. All vehicles, be they cars, trucks, buses, three wheeled motorbikes, tuk-tuks, mobility scooters, etc, etc, - will have an axle, and therefore an axle track! 78.32.143.113 (talk) 13:54, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Only vehicles with two wheels on the same axles can have a track, that would include tricycles, other two axle three wheeled vehicles and single axle trailers but exclude bicycles . The article Track (automobile) already exists. The merged article should perhaps be called Track (vehicle). All vehcles with at least two axles have a wheelbase. With hindsight, I think that 'axle track' is better than 'track (automotive)'. Not all wheeled objects are automotive - e.g. push-trolleys at supermarkets - but they still have axles and hence axle track(s).

Ah - I now see that the proposed merge is to a very similar article. The argument for merging seems good. However, it's a shame that my example of a supermarket trolley is also probably not a 'vehicle' as such. Could one think of a noun which comprises vehicles and push-trolleys .... or am I being inadvertently petty? It would apply to shopping carts, wagons, dollies, anyvehicle that has either two or more wheels on an axle or a wheel on each side of the vehicle without the wheels being on the same axle. Any vehicle that either has two or more axles, one after the other, also has a wheelbase. I would sugest Track (vehicle axle)Peter HornUser talk 01:19, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
