You are doing it wrong[edit]

I have removed all of the self-promotional links to commercial sites selling their tours or rooms in their own resorts/hotels. Please do not use them as a source of information for this article, per WP:NOTADVERTISING. Also please be aware of WP:NOTE - right now I do not see good reason for this article's existence except as the source of self-promotion for companies who sell private tours or hotel rooms/guesthouses there. 173.68.110.16 (talk) 20:34, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, buddy, the article itself is not promoting any business. Why don't you read the wikipedia policies yourself before throwing them at people. The purpose of those supporting links was not to promote a sale. There is more information beside rooms pricing. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 00:00, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I did read them all. The basic information in these links doesn't change the fact that they are used for self-promotion/advertising of the hotel and its services. Or the fact that you chose specific commercial sites in a very specific language - why didn't you try to promote this site instead? It also uses basic info about this location for self-promotional reasons but unlike the sites you chose it actually uses a proper English for that... Were you afraid that an English-language self-promotional site was easier to spot and to be removed by English-language readers here, unlike the sites written in Ukrainian/Russian language? 173.68.110.16 (talk) 01:39, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There was no scaring issue. I posted links that I spotted on google at first and that had more information about geographic location, base infrastructure and were more representative of Ukraine rather than Russia (a lot of sites use Russian transliteration). There was never any intentions for commercial promotion and I am not responsible for your assumption in regards to any "specific languages". If I gave you any other impressions, it was not intentional. The site you provided here (at the talk page) is very neat, yet they lack information about geographic location such as elevation, information about ski pistes etc. On top of it, it is erroneous in number of ways. The mentioned site identifies Vorokhta as a resort settlement which is not technically true. Vorokhta is a town with many ski resorts and hotels. Unlike the adjacent resort town of Bukovel, Vorokhta has its own town municipality and town council. The site you provided also mentions Avangard (wrong transliteration), but it should be noted that it is not a conventional hotel, yet it does provide lodging to general public. Avanhard is a sports base and has a complex for ski training that includes ski ramps and a children sports school. Lodging at the Avanhard sports base is supplemented by the Kolos-Ukraina sports center that is located just to the south of the town's center. In Soviet times Avanhard was a major training site for the Soviet Olympic team and was part of the Avanhard sports society (later transformed into the fitness-sports association Ukraina). Also some of the hotels in Ukraine is administered by department of tourism as part of a local or central government, yet there are many individual houses/cottages in Vorokhta that are rented out and listed on the site that you mentioned. Another issue with the site is that it uses transliteration of foreign country (Russia) instead of a local transliteration or simple translation. You are doing it wrong again, my friend[edit]

I believe you should remove your source leading to Julia Siparenko's private blog per WP:RS. Yes, she claims that the text in her post is taken from an "Olympiiskaya Arena" magazine but she does not provide a proper link to the quoted text and her claim is not verifiable. Please find another, more reliable and not self-published source. Thank you! 173.68.110.16 (talk) 04:24, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, give me a moment to fix it. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 19:33, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It should be noted that she is the general secretary of the Ski Federation of Ukraine (SFU). I agree that her claims are not academically traceable. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 19:35, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
