Title[edit]

I note that the article title, as well as the title indicated in the article for the ACMC now includes "United States". According to the U.S. Code, the position title is "Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps", without the U.S. I note that there is a redirect from "Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps" to the current article title. — ERcheck (talk) 12:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I renamed it to the official title and left the other as a redirect. — ERcheck (talk) 14:19, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Historical note: The original redirect using this article name was created on 04:51, 7 November 2007 by User:Neovu79. — ERcheck (talk) 14:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aviator trend[edit]

I noticed a trend in recent Assistant Commandants... 13 of the 19 most recent ACMCs have been aviators. I'm wondering if there is something more to this than a coincidence? I know that traditionally (though unofficially) Commandants are officers who have moved up the infantry lines, maybe this is something similar? bahamut0013 05:01, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt that it is more than a coincidence. Many of those officers held different commands (Some aviation, some not) along their career pipeline to get to ACMC. Neovu79 (talk) 11:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is OR if we touch it, but I wonder if anybody's looked into all those failures to promote to top. The recent collapse of the top USAF leadership has called on more top officers from the Navy Department for duties outside of service like NATO commander and such. Update this page[edit]

Amos is now the sitting Commandant of the Marine Corps and someone else is now the Assistant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nomad2u2001 (talkcontribs) Nomad2u2001 (talk) 02:48, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The president nominated Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. as the new ACMC but he hasnt actually taken the post yet. I think its stell waiting on the congressional confirmation hearing. --Kumioko (talk) 19:13, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dunford has already been confirmed by the Senate. He is awaiting assumption of command. Neovu79 (talk) 00:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
