The attitude of the apprentice[edit]

The well-educated graduate who enters industry is at a disadvantage compared to the 16 or 18 year old beginner in industry as an apprentice. This is because the working conditions and attitude to one's superiors are problems which the apprentice often adapts to much more easily, and this is because he/she is being paid and is doing a useful job, as distinct from the university graduate before qualification. The associated psychology provides the answer to the questions to why university graduates do less well in industry than apprentices. The formative part of a young persons life has already been passed at university, but for an apprentice the young mind is more adaptive to the relatively difficult conditions and attitudes needed for work and direct learning in industry. This is s good solution to what basically is psychology of being better qualified but less practical in behavior to others. Macrocompassion (talk) 12:28, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a New Section: Africa[edit]

Hello, my classmate and I noticed that there was no information about Africa on this page, and we'd love to add some. Here is what we have, let us know what you think: 

  In Liberia, tailor apprenticeships engage with more skilled tailors to learn the craft and the skills that may be taught in more traditional school settings. They learn from master tailors, which gives the apprentices a promised job once their training is completed. 
 Apprentices must have a grasp on patterns, measurement, and other math skills. They demonstrate full concept mastery before moving on to the next piece of clothing. Instead of formal testing for evaluation, articles of clothing must meet the quality standards before they can be sold and before the apprentice can begin a new design.

Pumpkin picture frightens[edit]

In May 2019 the section Types of apprenticeships was created, and illustrated with a picture. That picture is a diagram of boxes and text, the colours of which are a joke from Halloween. Some sort of yellow inside pumpkin orange? The text is unreadable at requested size and barely readable looking at the original jpeg files.

The diagram and its colours is taken from page 15 of this PDF. (CC licensed) And also as seen here at the project's website.

Even if the diagram is useful it is hideous and unreadable, and should be replaced. Shenme (talk) 05:06, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
