Synopsis Copy Vio[edit]
The synopsis added on April 17, 2010 (22:51) is a copy cut-and-paste from the synopsis at Tams-Witmark (http://www.tams-witmark.com/musicals/applause.html#synopsis). That is a copy violation as there is no permission to use this material (see the Tams-Wimark Terms of Condition at [[1]]) and I am therefore deleting the synopsis. (The copy violation guidelines, in brief, state "Please do not copy and paste from copyrighted websites – only public domain resources can be copied without permission.").JeanColumbia (talk) 08:36, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Closing Date Contested[edit]

- I changed the date to May 27, 1972 after finding the NYT announcement "'Applause' Closes Saturday" (New York edition: 24 May 1972. p. 53.). However, I've also added text explaining that the closing date has also been reported as July 27, since so many reliable sources state this, and I'm not sure why this discrepancy exists. See the article for book/online/magazine sources I found giving this date. Variety does not have free to access archives going back that far, though. I will leave the dubious tag up for a while in case others wish to discuss/dispute this change.

- "For heavens sake, there's nothing "dubious" about this! I have access to Variety, and it closed May 27, period! Check the New York Times Theater Directory after that date and see if "Applause" is listed -- it won't be! The books and website given as sources for the July 27 closing date are notoriously inaccurate. Besides, as I pointed out before, why would it close on a Thursday, in the middle of a week?! - I have moved these comments from the main article, please leave comments such as these on the talk page, or make the changes you're requesting yourself, but try to keep the actual article encyclopedic. To clarify, the dubious tag was placed there to indicate that you had called the July 27, 1972 date into question, and was left there temporarily after I changed the date to May 27th. I was not passing a judgement upon the info, simply trying to help facilitate discussion. Additionally, anyone is free to remove the dubious tag if they feel the issue has been addressed.
