Proof it was first[edit]

(copied from T:TDYK) All the sources say it is the world's oldest pizzeria. See the Chicago Sun-Times, The Rotarian (a magazine published by Rotary International), Frommer's 500 Places for Food & Wine, another book, page three of this article (found in Google Scholar, so it's pretty reliable) and it goes on.
