Education[edit]

Wasn't he a Bournemouth graduate not Hull?? Bobbyfletch85 14:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, he was a graduate of Hull University Drama Dept, where he also lectured in the early 1980s. Catwizzle 16:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To say that he completed both undergraduate and post-graduate course before abandoning his PhD is redundant as it is conventional practice to in order to be evaluated for a PhD program one has an undergraduate degree and post-graduate coursework completed. Even academic geniuses encounter this path.LimeyCinema1960 (talk) 03:22, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube links[edit]

This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 05:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

As of this moment, there has still been no cause of death released ([1], [2], [3], [4]. Any speculation will be removed on sight. Neıl 15:08, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now a referenced cause has been added, so no more need for speculation, the article has been unprotected. Neıl 16:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The reference says hemorrhage, not brain hemorrhage. Are we sure it's the latter? --Lukobe (talk) 18:19, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UPI says brain--[5]

Hmmm - UPI's source is TMZ.com which does not seem to be a reliable news source. Rachel Pearce (talk) 19:52, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Children[edit]

Minghella has two children, both of whom work in the film industry (sort of). Son Max is an actor (he was George Clooney's son in Syriana) and daughter Hannah has worked as a production assistant on his films. Both of which can be sourced to the IMDB entry SteveCoppock (talk) 19:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of tributes[edit]

I am not sure if the list of people who paid tribute to him really belongs in this article, but I have left it in.

Which John Berry is meant? It was linked to a disambiguation page, where many of the people of that name are dead. Two of the surviving ones are redlinked, so I removed the wikilink altogether. Rachel Pearce (talk) 13:41, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and have removed the list of tributes - it is an arbitrary list and includes one person who was very unhelpful to Minghella at a crucial stage of his career. Cooke (talk) 19:37, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inspector Morse series[edit]

Can someone give more detail on AM's contribution to this series. Was he the main scriptwriter, assistant scriptwriter or what? On the last Morse I watched, I was looking for his name in the credits but could not see it... Ivankinsman (talk) 13:54, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He is credited as the writer of three early episodes by imdb. Philip Cross (talk) 20:38, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have also been told that it was his idea to do Morse for Television. I can't remember which ones he wrote. Cooke (talk) 19:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Whale Music" reference[edit]

The link resolves to a different work of the same name by a Canadian. There is a disambiguation page for "Whale Music", but does not yet include the Minghella work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.141.149.57 (talk) 14:34, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grange Hill[edit]

According to the article on Grange Hill, Minghella contributed to the series Grange Hill as one of the series' script editors. If anyone knows about this, it could go in the article. Vorbee (talk) 15:46, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

He is credited both as a writer and script editor for Grange Hill on IMDb, but as I have no further information I'll leave it to anyone better informed to add to the article. Willemslie (talk) 15:22, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
