Lead[edit]

  • "where he was rated a consensus five-star recruit and one of the best players in the 2019 class." - please clarify in this sentence who rated Edwards a five-star recruit
  • "The most heralded player to commit to Georgia in program history," - please clarify in the lead that he committed to playing college basketball for Georgia

Early life[edit]

  • "after watching his brothers play." - you can write either play the game. or play the sport. to expand this sentence
  • "He often played basketball against his brothers at their grandmother's house in the summer." - don't use phrasing such as "in the summer" per MOS:SEASON
  • Wikilink college basketball

High school career[edit]

  • You don't need the acroynms of Amateur Athletic Union since they are not mentioned elsewhere
  • "Edwards was considered a four-star recruit" - considered by whom exactly?
  • "after the summer of 2016." - another MOS:SEASON violation here
  • "since Holy Spirit Prep had "small class sizes and support to help that." - can be changed to either Holy Spirit Prepratory or {{xt|his new high school}
  • "Edwards helped Holy Spirit Prep defeat The Heritage School for the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Class AAA state championship." - Prepratory
  • Wikilink the first mention of the terms points, rebounds and assists to their respective articles
  • "He played in the McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic in the spring of 2019." - a third violation of MOS:SEASON

Recruiting[edit]

  • "By consensus, Edwards was rated a five-star recruit, top-five player, and the top shooting guard in the 2019 class." - please state exactly at the start of this sentence who formed the consensus of Edwards' ability
  • "On February 11, 2019, he committed to play for Georgia," - committed to play college basketball for the reasons of clarification
  • "Edwards was drawn to Georgia because two of his favorite players, Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo, had been coached in college by Georgia head coach Tom Crean." - repetition of the word "Georgia"

College career[edit]

  • To make it more comfortable to read, the entire first paragraph might be better off divided into two, preferably after the sentence about Edwards' final game of the 2019 Maui Invitiational
  • Wikilink the first mention of the term steals to Steal (basketball)
  • Wikilink the sole mention in the prose of the term blocks to Block (basketball)
  • Wikilink the term overtime to Overtime (sports)

Personal life[edit]

  • "Edwards' mother, Yvette, and his grandmother, Shirley," - remove "his" from this portion of text
  • "He has worn the No. 5 basketball jersey" - the No. term should have the abbr template used on it and displayed as follows; {{xt|No.

References[edit]

  • All of the hyphens that are contained within the references that feature them should be replaced by en dashes (–)

On January 23,2022, Edwards became the youngest player to reach 300 made three pointers in a 136-125 win against the Brooklyn Nets. [1] MinnesotaSportsFan (talk) 17:09, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Editing for tomorrow[edit]

I have now been an editor for 4 days, and have made over 100 edits already, as well as creating a new page. I would love to do the honor of adding All-Star under Anthony Edwards’s page, as I am a fan of the Timberwolves. It won’t let me edit, even though I fit the criteria of being able to edit semi-protected wikipedia articles, so I don’t know. DEverything03 (talk) 04:15, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The entry for his college career includes a line where it says Georgia had an overtime defeat “of” South Carolina, but it should say a defeat “to” South Carolina since South Carolina won the game.

The source already says this, it’s just written incorrectly. 2601:5CD:8100:AB90:A5C9:3659:DF5C:9B90 (talk) 11:09, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 1 May 2024[edit]

Anthony Edwards (basketball) is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, based on the page view graph and the google results show the NBA player. 2600:8800:A68B:9C00:4082:2ECA:FD76:FE38 (talk) 05:36, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose WP:Recentism. Of course Ant's going to get more page views because he's currently starring in the NBA playoffs. Anthony Edwards (actor) won and was nominated for numerous high end acting awards playing a main character in one of the most popular shows of the 1990's (ER). He was also Goose in Top Gun.-- Yankees10 06:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. While the basketball player is clearly the hotter topic right now, the similar page-view graph for 2022 paints a rather different picture. Hqb (talk) 06:42, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - at a minimum the actor has just as good a claim for primary topic. Leave it as it is. Rikster2 (talk) 13:22, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • https://wikinav.toolforge.org/?language=en&title=Anthony_Edwards indicates there's a clearly detectable contingent of readers that aren't looking for the proposed primary topic, which gets 870 clicks over 1561 views, so ~55.7%. We definitely shouldn't move without a discussion of long-term significance, but these kinds of numbers aren't actually a definitive case for usage, either. (Oppose) --Joy (talk) 07:58, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Both Ant and Goose are relatively well known and the above mentioned data doesn't back up the claim that Ant is the primary topic. I think the pages should stay as they are. Alvaldi (talk) 21:02, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
