Controversy

− In July 2014, the National Media started to report on the termination of a University of Arizona faculty member, Dr Sue Sisley MD without stated cause or explanation. Dr. Sue Sisley had received national attention when in the Spring of 2014 the Federal Government approved a clinical study on Marijuana and its use in combat Veterans suffering from PTSD. It has been reported in the media that Joe "Skip" Garcia, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences Arizona Health Sciences Center , called Dr Sisley before her termination to inform her that he received a call from Dr. Ann Hart ordering that he learn more about Dr. Sisley's activities surrounding the Arizona Legislature and her attempt with Veterans to secure funding for said study. Joe "Skip" Garcia continued by saying the source of Dr Hart's anger was “that (Senate President) Andy Biggs had called President Hart to accuse Dr Sisley of somehow using university resources to attack his rising star Kimberly Yee.” Kimberly Yee, a life long politician, was the subject of a recall effort by Veterans who were upset that she used her committee position to block funding of the $1.2 million clinical trial from the State's $9 million dollar surplus allocated from the State's medical marijuana program that is off limits to the general fund and allocated towards issues involving Medical Marijuana. To date, the University of Arizona has not commented on Dr. Sue Sisley's termination. [1]

Wikipedia tries hard to avoid these types of sections for a number of reasons. This "material" if to be readded needs to have been covered very widely and needs to be crafted with great care per our BLP policies. Does this mean it can not be included? No idea. The project works on consensus, so, gain consensus for inclusion, since the default would be not to include. Cheers, --Malerooster (talk) 17:04, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
