Angela Petrelli's power?[edit]

Are we really going to use a TV Guide Gossip columnist for our sitings? I think we need something a little more substantial than that. I'm changing the "powers" reference until we get a real confirmation of her power. Padillah 16:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may be right, as i just saw an interview with the writers denying that she even had a power! User: Srstorey 18:54, 1st may 2007

So, it has been confirmed that Angela Petrelli has a power, but it hasn't been directly spelled out for the viewers. However, one can make a very good logical deduction that her power is clairvoyance. The one power that Peter Petrelli has used that does not have a clear benefactor is his clairvoyance visions (visions of him flying, shared dreams with Charles Deveaux, etc.). Since we know that Peter has the ability to copy powers of people he is in close contact with and he has clearly been in close contact with his mother. Since clairvoyance is the only power that Peter has demonstrated that does not have a clear benefactor, it is reasonable to assume that it comes from his mother. Logoskakou 19:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That seems like OR to me. We cannot say Angela has clairvoyance just because it is "reasonable to assume." We need real, definitive proof, an official statement, etc. before we can say she has clairvoyance. Arwen undomiel 19:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's also possible that Peter's clairvoyance power came from his father. The father's ability to see the future might have contributed to his depression and 3 attempts at suicide (the last one of which finally succeeded). Other "gifted" children that we've seen in the show (Micah, Claire) have had both parents with special powers, so it's possible that both of Nathan and Peter's parents also have powers. Just a thought.KC 04:00, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Found the following quotes from some interviews with the show's writers/producers, so for what it's worth:
Alright, our turn! The Haitian works for the Petrelli patriarch? Does she answer to someone as well? And if she realizes the danger Claire is in, shouldn't she be worried about her two boys as well?
She's got plans for her boys, that's all we can say. >So, with Micah and Claire, we've learned that two parents with powers will most likely result in a child with powers. As both Nathan and Peter have powers, that would seem to indicate that the powers gene runs pretty strongly in the Petrelli family -- possibly even in both parents? And will we ever learn more about the senior Petrelli?
Absolutely. But not until next season. http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=10359
Linderman said he used to belong to a group of people who had powers. Would it be much of a stretch to assume the Petrelli parents were part of this group? And when do we get to see Mrs. Petrelli use her powers?
You will be learning more on this connection this season and into next. We wouldn't dream of leaving you hanging. And who said Mrs. Petrelli has a power? Did she say that? Or does she just know about the powers?
And speaking of Mrs. Petrelli, how come we haven't seen Peter absorb her powers? Or have we, but we don't know it yet?
See above.
True, true. We're making assumptions here. She seemed to indicate in “.07%” that she had powers, but of course did not specify. Sneaky.
Now, also along this genetics line, shouldn't Nathan's other kids (Claire's half-siblings) have powers? Or is that only guaranteed if both parents are powered?
In genetics, nothing is guaranteed. A random mix of traits. Gregor Mendel and all that. Do we have to have a biology lesson, too? Wasn't the boring physics lesson enough? http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=10433 KC 04:32, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Pettelli (nathan and peters dad) doesnt have powers read the novels war buddies.

I have read the graphic novel "War Buddies" and couldn't find anything saying one way or the other about Nathan and Peter's Dad having a power or not. Can you share a quote or something from War Buddies that might help? Thanks! KC 17:47, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think his obvious assuption comes from "Dallas" Petrelli's reaction to Linderman's power. The assumption runs thusly: If "Dallas" had powers he wouldn't have been so taken aback when "Austin" displayed his powers.
However, it's entirely plausable that "Dallas"s powers either hadn't manefested yet or were innocuous enough not to stand out to "Dallas" as powers (i.e. Charlie's eidetic memory). Padillah 18:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks! KC 19:01, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a rumor, but there are a handful of message boards saying her power is to speak to the dead.

Ok, I just saw the episode where Claire meets her grandmother for the first time on the SciFi marathon, and I'm almost positive that Angela admits to Claire that she has some sort of ability. Until I came here and noted that there was a controversy, it seemed obvious to me that Angela was telling Claire that she (Angela) has the same ability as Claire, but I guess it's not that clear cut? Kutulu 16:32, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Angela told Claire that Clair "get[s] that from me", which I have always interpreted as her rude mouth. LOL! So, no, it's not clear cut at all (I've seen theories on prophetic dreams, persuasion, teleportation, speaking to/with the dead, astral projection, etc.). The writers/creators of the show have said that they plan to reveal her power at some point in "Season Two: Generations". We'll just have to wait until her power is confirmed. KC 20:37, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After watching the last episode I believe that She has the power of persuasion. You look at the way way she controls Nathan, and somewhat Peter. Angela's power isn't absolute though. Seen by Peter going off to do his own thing and Claire jumping out the window. (192.188.162.155 14:41, 22 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I don't think the current "Powers and Abilities" section is accurate. Can we at least add a comment that this is speculation? It's never been confirmed on the show that she has a superhuman ability to persuade people -- all the instances mentioned could simply be normal human powers of persuasion and manipulation. (Nathan and Peter listen to her because she is their mother. Claire gave her the phone because she was afraid. Etc.) The fact that Claire and Nathan defied her in the finale should be proof enough that she doesn't have an Eden-like ability to control people's actions. NicoleWiki 9:17, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
The section about her "powers" was entirely speculation, and thus didn't belong in the article. I agree that what she has demonstrated so far was normal manipulation and persuasion, not a power. Until someone can find some proof, it has been removed and will stay out of the article. Arwen Undomiel talk 15:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The best example I've seen of her "power" would be in the season finale when she knew right after the fact that Linderman was dead. I know someone could have told her, but it was so soon after that I don't think anyone would have had the time. I guess she could talk to the dead, but that seems hard to believe, even for the standards of Heroes. I would have to go with the first suggestion: clairvoiance. She can see things for which she is not present. However, I think this has nothing to do with Peter's visions of the future. I would attribute that to Charles Deveaux or perhaps Mr. Petrelli. Just some thoughts... -Platypus Man | Talk 07:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's still just speculation at this point, though. Until we get something more *verifiable* from either the TV show or the online graphic novels, then I recommend that we wait. KC 13:42, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need a Powers and Abilities section detailing that she has no powers? Failure to state she has powers should cover it. If or when she displays powers in the show we can change it, but nothing (other than gossip) has ever suggested that she has powers. Padillah 19:52, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It's still speculation at this point. People just need to be patient -- the answers are coming! LOL! KC 20:25, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

theres pretty decent hints that she has powers, the most obvious being in "the kindness of strangers" when she tells parkman "if they keep digging they will find out about all of us and waht we can do" when she confesses to killing kaito. its pretty significant that she included herself in the group. --Late Leo 23:39, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know this isn't an open discussion about Angela Petrelli and speculation but I just HAVE TO put my two cents in. I am now 90 percent sure that her power is to evoke memories or bring about an understanding of some sort. Not necessarily persuasion or clairvoyance as much as "awakening hidden thoughts/desires". This would correspond directly with all the instances she's been shown influencing or otherwise manipulating people (making Nathan wish to pursue presidency in spit of the evils (his dream of being a great leader), shaping Claire to submit for a time(her wanting to be with her real family), and in the latest episode she brought back Peter's memory of at least her, something as yet not done, not even with pictures of his brother. I think it's made vague so we don't know for sure, but I can almost guarantee its going to be some "hidden dream/thoughts awakening power", just not sure what the proper term for that is.TomUsedToBeRob 04:22, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Based on what she did to Peter, it seems like at least PART of Angela's power is the reverse of what The Haitian can do. 74.76.142.137 06:06, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of course because seeing his mother couldn't possibly evoke emotion or spark memory. It must be a power! It's not like Peter has already absorbed several different powers that could help his restore his memory (if he knew he had them). It must be Angela's power! Of course it could be OR. Padillah 16:28, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Although a minor occurrence in the series that probably won't help solve anything, in the episode where she's being questioned by Matt in the hospital, she says in her mind: "...they'll find out about us and what we can do...", and judging by her use of the word 'us', including herself in the group of people with <insert "what we can do" here>. Hyukan 23:22, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Angela's conversation with Heidi in "Four Months Ago" definitely suggests some sort of power. The shots focused heavily on her physical contact with Heidi, indicating there may be more there than meets the eye. The obvious power that could have been in use is persuasion, which someone mentioned above. Of course, it would still be OR and shouldn't be added to the article, but someone devoted enough might go back and see if she made physical contact on the other instances when she "persuaded" people. Slurms MacKenzie 08:32, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And i THINK that they are just playing with us and with the funs waiting her power to be revealed. Into my eyes she was just a woman in desperation hoping that Haidi will do the right think. -- Magioladitis 17:35, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In "How To Stop An Exploding Man," Angela puts her hands on Nathan's shoulders and says something like "It can't be stopped." When Peter reads Nathan's mind, all he hears is "it can't be stopped" over and over again.

Weather control is her power, in my opinion, as referenced in an episode where miami had snow instead of a tsunami Adam(kensei) was the mastermind requesting holocausts of sorts ,assuming this power wasnt that of Hiro's father —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.3.119 (talk) 09:12, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And if this were aa fan site these would all be great contributions. Unfortunately, it's not. Please, unless it has to do with expanding or expounding on the article let's keep the fan-chat on the fan sites. Thanks guys. Padillah (talk) 05:03, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry do continue a dead topic, but Aussielo said in regards to her power "She certainly does. And it's very similar to a power possessed by another hero, only in her case, it takes a lot less effort to get from Point A to Point B." What does everyone think of this? 82.10.93.65 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that that information was in the link that started this conversation (though is broken now) and has been covered. We know she has a power, but no one knows what it is. Further we already say, in her infobox, her power is "Unspecified" and in the article it's mentioned with the same information, but coming from the writer's.

The Season 2 DVD includes a scene from what would have been episode 212 showing her apparently using Peter's Astral form/Precognition power. Should that be mentioned, or not considered official until she uses it in an in continuity episode? (Since 212 as shot no longer happens)

special training[edit]

someone added a section called special training. i dont think that is varifiable and needs to be deleted. someone said she knew parkman was in her head based on some training that he and bennet received from the company. but i beleive that she knew parkman was in her head because he repeated her thoughts saying that they had done something terrible and were getting revenge. angela has been around heroes all her life. she probably already know about parkman since the company abducted him in the past first season and has a record of him and his powers on the primatech website at heroes 360. and since angela is connected with the company, i feel that section of special training is not encyclopeic enough for this section. --76.168.220.243 05:17, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. She knew, through exposure, what was happening and was simply putting up a thought barrier, a la Children of the Corn. No special training, no communicating with telepaths. Padillah 05:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe her power must be memory reminderisation (if that's what you call it) as peter uses that power to regain his memory just after meeting with her when he goes back in time in episode 7 "Out of time" she seems to be willing him on but the fact he uses this power first around suggests that it derives from her. Also the fact that she seems to have a habit of working with the haitian could be because she must counter his power of memory removal, by giving it back using her own power. Semi-protection for this page as well?[edit]

Do we need to get this page protected too? I've already had Peter Petrelli placed under protection due to the enormous amount of fancruft and speculation, I can get this page placed under protection too if needs be. Padillah 18:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thumbs up! Please do it. At least for 2 episodes. -- Magioladitis 19:54, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as you are one step away from an 3RR I submitted the request. Let's see how long it takes. Padillah 20:06, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate Future[edit]

Should it be stated that the future where peter went to with the virus be called "Alternate". I don't know if it's been verified that that future will definitely not happen and is still just the future. Any thoughts? Akuzio (talk) 08:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess this can be disregarded now.Akuzio 09:37, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Powerless[edit]

Can we assume that Angela Petrelli is talking to a man specifically? (Under the pargraph "Generations"- "She also comments that the man has just opened Pandora's Box.") It's possible that it was a woman. There's no evidence to back up that it was a man that she was talking to. I know its small, but maybe its should be something to be looked into, Combee loves me (talk) 06:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's true, she could be talking to a woman, but given the fact that we simply don't know, it's both safer and correct to default to the masculine. Grey Maiden

Angela power[edit]

I think that Angela power is noteable. Look they said that Peter has used her power once. So i think that he has this Precognitive dreams all the time but but we never found out from who he get them so i supose that he got them from Angela. I have only watched season 1 so sorry if i am wrong. --77.29.76.21 (talk) 14:09, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The season 3 opener shows that it is definitively precognition as she tells Peter that is why he had the dream; however, this was only shown at CCI 2008 and should not go up as it's (minor) spoilerish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.168.32 (talk) 07:02, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And you are more than welcome to assume that. The problem we run into here is one of making sure it's true. Not just thinking it's true. Not even proving it's true given the facts at hand. But we have to have someone else say it first. That's what it means to have a primary source. The long and short is, because anybody can come to WP and type whatever they want, we have limited ourselves to only gathering information, not creating it. You may be right, and there is a HeroesWiki where you can post that and others will debate the question with you. But here on the main site we have to watch our P's a Q's. Thanks for the effort though. padillaH (review me)(help me) 17:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
You are right. So could you give me site to that wiki site so i could talk with them about this stuff. Thanks that you explain to me. So if people there decide that thats Angela power you will let me to write that here. Thanks a lot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.29.73.23 (talk) 16:00, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What they decide at HeroesWiki.com does NOT influence what is written here. ~QuasiAbstract {talk/contrib} 14:14, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think you have misunderstood. You are more than welcome to participate in Heroeswiki ( which is the URL too, [www.heroeswiki.com]). They allow more speculation and fan-centric information. Here we are interested in a complete and factual encyclopedia, not a fan site. Until it's on the show or in a newspaper, we wouldn't allow anything here. You can check the Peter Petrelli page, we've actually taken down where Peter gets his powes because sometimes it's not perfectly clear... and if it's nbot perfectly clear Wikipedia can't publish it. padillaH (review me)(help me) 12:04, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

What are we going to call her power?[edit]

In deference to the fact that we are probably going to be told Angela's power in the first or second episode, I am going to attempt to head off the requisite "Power Name Argument". I feel it should be called Precognition, dreaming is simply the method she uses the results of the power are the same. Like Isaac's power, he is a precog but he paints his visions rather than dream them. There is no difference in the power, just the method of using the power. padillaH (review me)(help me) 15:10, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps naming it "Precognitive dreaming", and changing Isaac's to "Precognitive artistry" (his isn't limited to painting)? Ophois (talk) 18:17, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did she say what she was talking about?[edit]

The article reads "After Nathan is shot at his press conference, Angela has a telephone conversation wherein she states that there was no choice but to shoot Nathan." Did she? I seem to remember her saying "It was unavoidable" but that's it. We don't know what was unavoidable nor who she was talking to. Can someone with the DVD check this out for me? padillaH (review me)(help me) 12:39, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She never mentions the shooting, but from what I understand she is supposed to be talking about the shooting. Originally I think it was supposed to be about the release of the virus, but was just reused to be about the shooting. Ophois (talk) 18:59, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SPoiler![edit]

Saying she is Sylar's mother in the first paragraph is a huge spoiler! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.242.204 (talk) 07:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:Spoiler - "It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot." If someone doesn't want to get spoiled on an article, they shouldn't be coming to Wikipedia, of all places. ~Auzemandius {talk/contrib} 07:48, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've said it before, I'll say it again: If you look up information on a subject don't be surprised to find information on that subject. What did you think you'd find here? Recipes for soup? Padillah (talk) 12:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is not the spoiler thing but that the article was a very poor leading paragraph which tries to give any possible relation ship. The fact that she is the mother of Nathan and Peter is far more important than that she is Sylar's mother. And I am talking from a general point of view and not just by judging by the latest episodes. -- Magioladitis (talk) 12:47, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, I just re-read the lead and - you're right, it stinks. It should be a recap of the article, not a list of accomplishments. It needs work. But the OP was complaining about the "spoilers" in the first paragraph and, while the relation to Claire might move to the body, the relationship to her sons won't. It's been an argument for years on WP - whether to hide "spoilers" or not. And the result is the same, since what constitutes a spoiler is subjective we don't entertain them. WP is here to list information. Don't be surprised when you find said information. Padillah (talk) 13:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you to that. On the other hand, I still don't understand why some editors go immediately after the end of an episode and try to change the leading paragraph. For me it's very difficult to keep an eye to these articles anymore. I am afraid that some editor will come and add information (inaccurate in 9 of the 10 times) from a sneak preview, a spoilers blog or something like that. I started to hope that the reveal a power of this character and we stop reverting stupid additions and speculations. -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:10, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming power[edit]

As shown in more recent episodes (and verified in this Q&A), Angela's power is not just precognitive dreaming. She also appears to have some sort of postcognitive dreaming ability (as shown when Peter visits Charles) and some form of dream manipulation. Perhaps "Enhanced dreaming" or something like that would be more appropriate? Ophois (talk) 15:55, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since nobody has responded, I'm gonna go ahead and make the change then. Ophois (talk) 03:36, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Sylar[edit]

We now know Arthur isn't Sylar's father, but can we rule out Angela as his mother for certain? Even though the older generation of heroes use lies and manipulation, there have usually been grains of truth in what they say. It was even inferred that Angela had an affair with Kaito. And I know this is fairly wild speculation, but immediately dismissing that she could be Sylar's mother is no different since there is no solid proof one way or the other. --138.162.0.41 (talk) 15:22, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All we can go on is what they say. We can't cross out Angela as his mother, just because Arthur wasn't his father. Until he uses his power to determine the validity of what she said, we have to go on the last information we've gotten, which was her saying that she was his mother. ~Auzemandius {talk/contrib} 14:30, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be mentioned how she "fed" her to Sylar. It is, IMO, quite a revealing moment - we see what kind of monster she can be. I'd include it myself, but I don't think I could do so in an objective way.--Cyberman TM (talk) 22:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
