Inclusion in 1994 births category[edit]

Whilst it's highly likely given the date of the auditions and the fact he was 13 then that he WAS born in 1994, do we have a source for this as based on the citations it's nothing more than an educated guess. (The audition was in January, so he might have been born Jan 95, making this wrong). There's nothing in the article to ask for references, just the category he's in. Chavster01 (talk) 19:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We should pull the cat until his date of birth is sourced. For a minor like this, we should only list the year of birth. Darkspots (talk) 19:41, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't see why we should withhold it if we know it purely on the grounds of his age. A child actor would have it shown and other youngsters would. My main objections are that it's unverifiable, and potentially inaccurate. Given the timings it's probably correct but we don't know. Chavster01 (talk) 22:48, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I'd also doubt he sings "operatic pop" - musicologically there is practically no such thing. He's a cathedral chorister who sings church music from day to day. Classical, despite being a non sequitur, would be more accurate. Anyone agree? Chavster01 (talk) 19:14, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Material moved from article space[edit]

The following unreferenced passage was inserted into the article today. I thought I'd move it here for discussion rather than deleting it out of hand, even though I have no way of evaluating its merits. Darkspots (talk) 16:59, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed it for BLP reasons- it was possibly added by Andrew Snr or a friend. I don't think the dispute between Johnston's parents is of much importance to the article, but there's no need to even mention it until there are sources. J Milburn (talk) 10:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Andrew Johnston (singer)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

I went through this article and found only minor things that needed to be fixed. I copyedited the article, and I believe that it now meets the six criteria for Good Articles. I found it engaging and easy to follow, and it is comprehensive and well-sourced. There are no stability or neutrality problems. A picture would, of course, be nice if a free-use image ever comes available. Overall, I'm impressed and I am promoting the article.

If you have a chance, it would be great if you could review and article in return to help cut down on the GAN backlog. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 19:51, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I found a number of issues with it, and have made the necessary changes. My actions in this connection would disqualify me from voting in its promotion. Ohconfucius (talk) 04:37, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dead link ref[edit]

One of the refs, currently footnote #4, is a dead link. Just now I replaced its usage in the infobox (Andrew's long name), but 7 links to the reference still remain. JamieS93 18:56, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How bloody annoying. I'll see if I can replace everything. J Milburn (talk) 19:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done, had to change the odd bit. Funny, I mentioned the Daily Record in the prose, giving them some free publicity. They've lost that now... J Milburn (talk) 19:43, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge the album with this?[edit]

I don't want to go ahead and propose the merge formally, especially since this article is currently at WP:FAC, but wouldn't it make sense to merge One Voice (Andrew Johnston album) here? The two of them together would still be a pretty short article. OK, so one day he may have a long discography; but we could break the article out again if that ever happens. I mention it because I was surprised on first reading to see that there was no track listing for One Voice in this article. Mike Christie (talk) 02:18, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The merging of album and artist articles is a rarely done thing- there's some context on the album article which would not be appropriate in this one (for instance, the hard data of the track listing and personnel). The album article, with a little more work, could hopefully hit GA status, and we have thousands of perma-stub album articles. I'd be inclined to disagree with the merge. J Milburn (talk) 09:01, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I won't propose the merge. I don't work much with music articles so I wasn't aware of the current practice. It does seem odd to me to have two short articles instead of one, but if that's the precedent then so be it. Mike Christie (talk) 12:15, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 22 December 2014[edit]

Is "int he" a typo or part of the original publishing of the quote?66.74.176.59 (talk) 05:17, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done I've removed the entire quote since it's full of spelling errors and I personally believe Paul hadn't wrote it at all - (The quote is no where to be found on the internet either). –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 02:15, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
