Amsheet → Amchit – The spelling "Amchit" is more common (WP:COMMONNAME). Ngram Viewer doesn't even find results for "Amsheet": [1]. Gibranist (talk) 12:25, 26 April 2020 (UTC) —Relisting. buidhe 13:26, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Amchit is primarily the French spelling. Because Lebanon was under the French Mandate in the mid 20th century, this spelling is also found in English. Amsheet, however, is the English spelling, which has been in use a long time. The Ngram Viewer doesn't have anything to plot for Amchit since 2012 either. Instances of use: 1848, 1853, 1890, 1912, 1979, 1982, 1993, 1995, 2008, 2012, etc. A quote from the 1993 source: "Amsheet, where I grew up, is a village by the sea, north of Beirut. On occasion, my grandfather, who was a fisherman, used to take me out to sea and there I first heard the mawawil of these fishermen." — the Man in Question (in question)
