Inaccurate claim[edit]

The article currently includes: "In 1999 Roth redesigned the matching program to ensure stable matches even with married couples." However, as one of the cited pieces makes clear (Roth, Deferred Acceptance Algorithms: History, Theory, Practice, and Open Questions) there is no guarantee that the set of stable matches in nonempty with married couples although in practice it is rare for it to be empty. Missing quote[edit]

The 'Work' section of this page discusses Roth's work in market design but does not include a quote. The following is a good quote to add: Describing the dynamism of market design, Roth suggests that As the conditions of the market change, the behavior of people change and that causes old rules to be discarded and new rules to be created^[1].

Dr. Klijn's comment on this article[edit]

Dr. Klijn has reviewed this Wikipedia page, and provided us with the following comments to improve its quality:

"In 1999 Roth redesigned the matching program to ensure stable matches even with married couples." is not true. Already in his 1984 NRMP paper Roth showed that there are instances of couples markets where no stable matching exists. So, stability cannot be guaranteed or ensured.

We hope Wikipedians on this talk page can take advantage of these comments and improve the quality of the article accordingly.
