Maintain : Set a calendar reminder to update the chapter list, member count and otherwise check the article for necessary updates, annually.
Update : If calling out specific chapters in the body text, italicize the name of the chapter. Wikipedia practice within the F&S Project is that the word "chapter" is not capitalized, while the name of the chapter is. After reviewing it I deleted the Controversies section which had been too detailed for a main article, and unfairly frames the entire national as if the event was systemic; notes about an individual chapter's closure or suspension ought to be rendered as a reference note for that particular chapter unless the event generated notable, persistent national news. Wikify : Confirm the physical address annually and occasionally confirm the websites. Occasionally, update the number of chapters and number of lifetime members. The Fraternity's and the Society's chapter lists should be placed into a separate table format, like this: Omega Tau Sigma or Sigma Delta Rho (to reference two unrelated examples), or as a separate standalone page when the list is lengthy (subjective, perhaps 30 chapters or more). Indicate what is meant by "Affiliated groups". A chapter list should include dates of chartering. Indicate if a chapter is active by bolding its name, or if inactive by using italics. A table will allow room where chapter references may point to portal pages, and allow comments on where a chapter came from, interesting facts or its outcome. A table may also be used to showcase notable members, but be sure to add Inclusion Rules to avoid vanity listings.
I deleted a "Controversies" section, after considering a simple rename as "Local chapter or member misconduct". It started out with the report of the 1922 death of a member after some reports of 'horseplay', where the Hamilton chapter was not alleged to have caused the death. --It was 100 years ago. While tragic, it was simply an event that happened on the fraternity premises and has nothing to do with a systemic report of hazing or aggression, then or now, and wasn't "national" by any sense of the term.
The citations went downhill from there, in terms of encyclopedic value: One was supported by a Gawker magazine reference, an unreliable source. Several others were reports of loud behavior or parties, or events held during a period of sanction. None of these are particularly noteworthy, even as a note against a specific chapter listing on the chapter list. In no way do they rise to the importance of citing them on a summary article about the national fraternity. Further, in most of these the issue has passed, the sanction is done, and a new crop of members is in the chapter, perhaps only dimly aware that some of their forebears were involved in a passing, local scandal.
I urge inclusion of misconduct items in these pages IF:
A) They indicate a systemic, ongoing problem that the national fraternity refuses to cure or condones in any way. Or,
B) The issue results in significant national news, like the Duke Lacrosse Team fraudulent rape case, affecting Phi Kappa Psi. Or,
C) If the issue results in noteworthy national legislation, like certain hazing events that result in anti-hazing laws.
