1. In the external link section, is there any requirement for putting up "unofficial websites" as well? As we may know that due to numerous aspirants for IAS, there are many webistes for them too. So why a single websites gets the advantage over the other? Chetanshaw (talk) 17:52, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in All India Services[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of All India Services's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Profile IAS":

  • From Indian Administrative Service: "Service Profile for the Indian Administrative Service" (PDF). Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Archived from the original (PDF) on 9 August 2017. Retrieved 13 August 2017. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |dead-url= ignored (|url-status= suggested) (help)
  • From Provincial Civil Service (Uttar Pradesh): "Service Profile for the Indian Administrative Service" (PDF). Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Retrieved 13 August 2017. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |dead-url= ignored (|url-status= suggested) (help)
  • From Prime Minister of India: "Service Profile for the Indian Administrative Service" (PDF). Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Retrieved 13 August 2017.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 07:16, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The initialisms "IFS" and "IFoS"[edit]

I have started a discussion at Talk:Indian Forest Service#Use of the "IFS" and "IFoS" initialisms in an attempt to reach consensus on the usage of the initialisms "IFS" and "IFoS", which are regularly contested. Your contributions on that talk page would be appreciated! ninety:one 23:47, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

On whether IFS is an All India Service[edit]

IFS is not an All India Service. All India Services are those which can be deputed to work under both union and state governments at different times. Foreign Affairs are a subject of union list so states governments have no business working with foreign service officers. Hence Indian Foreign Service is not an All India Service. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2406:b400:66:2372:c183:43ff:9fb0:b3c1 (talk) 17:16, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple pages at upsc.gov.in, such as [1], are explicit that it is forest service and not foreign service. DMacks (talk) 14:03, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
